"Rule number two: don't hurt anyone."

Munich, Germany
July, 2024

SAM WAS STARING AT James again, locked in another staring contest. Lucy watched them stare at each other like there was no tomorrow. Hours had passed since they'd entered the vehicle, and they'd finally crossed into Germany. She sighed, letting her eyes dart pack to Alpine. She ran a hand over her coat, gentle as Alpine let out a yawn. She rolled slightly, undisturbed by the plane turbulence.

She guessed Alpine was used to all of it now, especially since she'd gotten shot in Bucharest. Lucy bit her lip at the memory, running a hand over the tiny scar that remained. Alpine was such a great companion, bouncing back stronger.

She would be alright with Torres.

Speaking of Torres, he climbed down from the cockpit, jumping onto the ground and stepping past Sam.

"One minute to drop off, Sam." He said.

Sam didn't respond, his eyes completely and utterly focused on James. Lucy rolled her eyes at the pair, standing up while scooping Alpine in between her hands. She approached Torres with the white cat in her arms. He glanced at her, then down at Alpine.

His brows furrowed with confusion.

"Do you mind taking care of Alpine while we figure out what's going on?" She asked, hoping the favor wasn't too big of one.

Torres blinked.

"Oh, yeah, that's cool." He said.

"Thanks." Lucy nodded at him, before placing Alpine on the ground.

She huffed, annoyed at being awoken. She jumped onto a random piece of cargo, climbing onto the top of it and sitting there like a pompous queen. Torres scratched the back of his neck sheepishly at Alpine's movements. She laid down, crossing one paw over the other. Then she stared at Torres, before chuffing and moving her head away.

Lucy shook her head at Alpine's movements, before turning her attention to the two staring idiots. Sam moved forwards slightly, and James mimicked his movements. Then he stood, and James stood along with him.

She sighed at them, grabbing an ear piece for herself and putting it into her ear.

The pair followed suit, doing the same.

"So, what's our plan?" James questioned.

Sam stared at him.

Lucy looked between them.
