"The intelligent man takes joy in doing favors for others."
???, Pacific Ocean
September, 2024"UNCLE KLAUSE!" ANGELIKO YELLED as he ran at the older man, jumping into his arms.
Klause lowered himself to the ground so he could do so, picking him up and letting Angeliko hold onto his neck as he positioned himself close to him. He let Angeliko cling to him for a few seconds, before slowly placing him down on one of the plane seats.
Lucy placed their luggage in the top compartments, waving her hand as the luggage flew upwards by themselves. She used a vast amount of her abilities to feel for Xialing, crown forming over her head the more she exerted herself. But she was able to find her in Macau, China.
It turned out that could stretch herself very thin if she focused only on a soul she already knew and could identify. The more she knew of a person, the more powerful her connection to them was. She hypothesized that she could probably feel James anywhere– across the world, across planets, and that was utterly relieving.
She hoped the same would happen with Angeliko and Karli.
"I'm sorry to call this in." Lucy said as she turned to Klause. "But Xialing is a good friend of mine. And I'd rather not lose her to, well, whatever the hell is after her."
Klause inclined his head in understanding.
"Henry understands, Lucy." Oh, it was refreshing to hear him speak their first names. "He also told me to tell you that Xialing's presence in his business is vital. If she is not there to continue her work, then a new boss will be placed in Macau."
Lucy huffed.
"He asks that you may find someone to replace her if such things are to occur." He continued.
"Oh, alright." Lucy waved her hand. "I'll only do it if Xialing decides to quit, because she's going to be very alive, Klause."
Her tone was almost a warning– Xialing wasn't going to die when Lucy still existed. She turned her head to look at James and Karli as they settled into seats across from each other. Karli was slurping on a smoothie with her phone in hand, eyes focused on the news.
James was inspecting the alcoholic beverages sitting in front of them. He picked up the champagne, which must've been opened by Klause before they'd entered. He poured himself a glass, and Karli tried to grab it before he could.
