"Someone will love you, but someone isn't me."

Delacroix, Louisiana
August, 2024

ANGELIKO WAS HOLDING TIGHT to Henry's pant leg, refusing to let him go. The pair had stayed for two nights before Henry secured a place for Sharon in the Raft. How he accomplished such a feat was beyond her, and frankly, Lucy didn't want to know if he had friends there. She remembered being in the Raft, she remembered Secretary Ross.

She sighed as Angeliko held his hands up to Henry, practically begging him to pick him up.

Henry looked down at Angeliko as Klause waited near the exit. They were in front of the apartment, waiting patiently for their ride to appear. She watched as Henry crouched down in front of him, placing a hand on top of his head. He ruffled Angeliko's hair, and Angeliko pouted up at him.

Lucy's eyes darted toward the road as a black lamborghini slowed to a stop in front of their apartment complex. She decided not to question the extremely, outrageously expensive car as Klause padded over towards the passenger's side.

"I'll be back, Angie." Henry stated, the nickname having stuck after two days. "So go to Mama and Papa, okay?"

Angeliko sniffled, wiping his nose with one hand.

"You better, Uncle Schaffer!" He said with a pout.

Henry let out a laugh. It sounded genuine.

Lucy padded forward, grasping his hand. He turned, looking up at her. She grasped Angeliko, picking him up and holding her against her chest. She looked at Henry as his eyes flicked away from him. He glanced at her, giving her a once over.

He didn't say anything, turning around. She pursed her lips as his form receded towards the car. Karli nudged her with her elbow. Her hair was black now, fake glasses clinging to her face. She gave Lucy an encouraging nod, and Lucy– Lucy s sighed.

She padded toward Henry, clearing her throat. He paused, turning his head to face her.

"Don't– don't die while you're gone." She said.

Henry's lips twitched upwards, amusement in his eyes.

"I won't." He assured. He paused for a moment, glancing at the people behind her; the family behind her. "I'm glad, that I was able to see you find a family. Until next time, Lucy."

He reached forward then, patting her head like he'd patted Angeliko's. She blinked, the sensation familiar yet unfamiliar at the same time. She inclined her head as he entered the passenger's seat. Klause shut the door for him, before glancing at Lucy.
