"How can you care about the heart which beats in solitude?"

Macau, China
September, 2024

LUCY OUTRIGHT POUTED AS Klause stepped beside her into the elevator of the Golden Daggers club. Yuxuan hadn't left his post, still working with his tablet as usual. He gave them a greeting nod and Lucy returned the gesture, before turning to Klause, giving him a very pointed look.

"I don't want to take care of everything Henry leaves behind." She huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "It isn't fair for him to do that. Plus, you know all about Henry's business! You're good at your work."

Klause dipped his head respectfully, though he still seemed to disagree with her words vehemently.

A week had passed since their stay in China. Unsurprisingly, Lucy and her family had lots of things to do– the city was huge and the amount of food they stuffed in their stomachs seemed to be never ending. So their fun in this place never stopped, but that didn't mean Klause and Lucy stopped working.

Klause oversaw the Golden Daggers club as he stayed with them, venturing back and forth from the two story house, to the building, to the house again. He appeared and disappeared, slipping away during the night and taking naps during the day. Lucy had a feeling he was working like that to not scare Angeliko.

Either way, an entire week had passed, and her family had packed up everything they had in their suitcases, focused on departing the area to take a break at home, before traveling the world again. Lucy felt like she needed the break at home, not that they didn't have another surprise waiting for Angeliko and Karli.

This all meant that Lucy would check on the Golden Daggers club one last time, to make sure Xialing could come back to a safe place. She was surprised when she felt Xialing's soul arrive at the city in the morning. She decided to meet her in the afternoon– Lucy had missed out on sleep, and she needed time to catch up on it.

Klause exhaled, clutching the briefcase he brought with him everywhere.

"Thank you, Lucy, but many of Henry's clients believe me to be his lapdog." Klause sighed, as if that was the most normal thing in the world– as if it weren't at all insulting. "No one will listen to a lapdog that has acquired something of such grandscale."

Lucy uncrossed her arms, frowning at him. She despised it when he referred to himself with such low care, as if he wasn't an amazing person and an even better friend that helped to keep her in one piece– emotionally and physically.
