"What took you so long; to know you saved us?"Brooklyn, New York
August, 2024LUCY LIFTED HER EYES to the sky, the night dark with stars sprinkled across the black canvas. It wasn't warm nor cold– Lucy didn't care enough to dwell on it. She let out a sigh as her obsidian crown dipped over her forehead, cloak forming as she traveled forwards. Her boots hit the ground silently as she walked, slowly, behind James.
They were surrounded by the police and a variety of government officials that Lucy didn't care enough about. Again, she was distracted by other things. Angeliko's hand was tight around hers, confused and a little nervous with all of the sirens and the people surrounding them. Alpine was in his arm, clutching onto his shoulders as James brushed past a few officers.
Lucy did the same, the officer's eyes darting to the kid holding her hand, but letting her pass either way. They were afraid of her, she could feel it in their souls. Lucy disregarded them as she found herself walking straight towards two very familiar people.
"Miss." Klause greeted, lowering his head.
Oh, so he thought she was angry with him? Well, at least he wasn't completely wrong. She was upset, just, well, it wasn't Klause's fault, entirely. Besides, he was just trying to make Henry tell her the truth.
She gave him a grimace of a smile.
"Klause." She said, before turning her eyes to the man beside him. "Henry."
Henry looked so utterly bored, his arms crossed over his chest. He didn't say anything as Klause's eyes flicked to Angeliko, glancing down at him. Angeliko hid his face into Lucy's cloak, hiding under it. She looked down at him, gentle as she coaxed him out.
Slowly, hesitantly, Angeliko peeked up at the two towering adults.
"This is Mr. Klause," she pointed to Klause, "and this is Mr. Schaffer. I need you to stay with them while I help your Papa, okay?"
Her voice was calm and gentle, but Angeliko's hand on her only tightened. He looked up at Mr. Schaffer and Mr. Klause. They looked. . .okay. They looked a little scary. Angeliko didn't want to leave Mama, and he didn't want Papa to leave too. Angeliko didn't like this.
Angeliko didn't like this. He didn't like this at all.
"No." He whined. "I want to stay with Mama!"
Henry tilted his head as he examined him.
