"I'm sorry, who are you?"
Richmond District, San Francisco September, 2024
LUCY LET OUT A SMALL sigh as she climbed onto the elongated bus, grabbing ahold of the railing and pulling herself inside with ease. She was wearing a pair of cargo pants and a cropped shirt that didn't do much to hide her scars, not that she cared much. It still made people on the bus give her looks. She sat near the entrance, her eyes focused on the window.
San Francisco was their first vacation destination. With Karli settling in well and Angeliko having plushy fights every night with James, they decided to take some time off for their newfound family. The decision to pick San Francisco was random– a roll of a dice. But it was good for Angeliko and Karli. Everyday they were able to go sightseeing, taking rides on boats and visiting nearby carnivals, or just existing in this foreign place.
Currently, they were living in an apartment with two bedrooms, and two baths. It was pretty nice. Of course, it wasn't like Lucy actually owned it. It was just another one of Henry's emergency homes, and, well, Lucy would take advantage of it while he still had it.
They only had a few days left here, until they would be off to London, mainly to see the Queen and her castle. Lucy guessed she was lucky to have connections with Henry, since the Queen would most-likely allow them into her home, especially since the crazy asshole– reformed psychopath– had some crazy love story with her.
Goodness, she wondered how many girls he accidentally charmed as he traveled the years, wondered if he'd accidentally killed any of them.
Lucy shook the thought from her head, leaning back in her seat as she pulled out her phone. She looked through the pictures they'd taken together. They looked good together, and Lucy couldn't help the way a smile formed on her face.
She deleted the pictures they blinked in, humming to herself.
James, Angeliko and Karli were all resting back at home. They'd spent their time at a water park, and all of them were completely out of energy. So Lucy was on her own, taking the bus toward the nearest grocery store. Besides, she was planning to surprise everyone with smoothies and ice cream.
"Look. Look at that girl." A voice said, not quietly– Katy Chen, older sister.
Lucy turned her head slightly to see two young adults sitting next to each other, pointing at the girl sitting to Lucy's left. The woman was typing away on her MacBook– Rachel Wen– working on some sort of report.
