"I hate rarely, though when I hate, I hate murderously."

"SORRY ABOUT REDWING." JAMES said with a very not sorry voice.

Lucy sighed at his antics.

They'd been walking down the same road for a while now, probably for a good fifteen minutes. She wondered where Torres had parked, hoping they'd get to him soon. Sam was there GPS at the moment, even without his favorite companion.

Lucy would be understandably sad if DUM-E got snapped in half in front of her, so she knew Sam's sadness towards the poor piece of tech was genuine.

"No, you're not." Sam retorted.

A moment of silence traveled between them.

She could feel the annoyance in the air. All three of them had no leads, had lost the trucks and the super soldier individuals, and were practically clueless about the situation. There was still the mystery of how they even obtained the super soldier, and who exactly they were. It made absolutely no sense.

"What's going on in that big cyborg brain of yours?" Sam questioned.

James exhaled.

"It's computing." He replied.

Lucy let out a soft chuckle, shaking her head at him. Sam let out a similar sound, amusement laced in his voice.

"You know what? I can actually see it." He laughed. "I can see the gears turning. Oh, they're malfunctioning, shutting down. Yep, they're on fire."

James didn't look amused, rolling his eyes at him lightheartedly.

Lucy knew the joke was teetering on a dangerous edge, but the dark humor didn't seem to bother James. Mainly because Sam probably didn't realize the dangerous thread he was treading on. It would have been a harmless joke, really, if not for the words he used.

At least Sam was somewhat blunt–and that was nice.

"We gotta figure out where the serum's coming from." James decided with finality.

"I agree." Lucy said, nodding her head. "The serum has to have been developed by someone, then sold by this specific someone, then obtained."

James pursed his lips.

"Yeah, and how in the hell after 80 years are there eight super soldiers on the loose?" Sam huffed.

The sound of a vehicle moving behind them caught Lucy's attention and she turned her head to look back. Her annoyance levels rose exponentially at the sight of John Walker and his partner, Lemar Hoskins.
