"What wanes the flame of your soul?"Cairo, Egypt
January, 2025LUCY RUBBED HER TEMPLE to stop a migraine from bursting across her skull. God, could anyone be more frustratingly annoying than Marc Spector? He hadn't been around for nearly fifteen minutes, so it wasn't her fault she decided to help Steven Grant because the poor guy was so depressingly sad that Lucy actually felt like he should go home.
"You were supposed to not help him!" Marc argued as they exited the taxi, ignoring the man shouting for his money. "You were supposed to help me!"
Lucy shot him a glare as they sprinted into an alleyway with street vendors, chasing after the same three people who had run off– again. God, it was like a hopeless goose-chase and she was not having as much fun as she had just a few moments ago.
She ignored Marc as he continued scolding her for helping a very helpless, very sad Steven Grant. The poor guy just wanted to live a normal life, and Marc wasn't allowing him to do it. She sighed, running a hand over her face.
They nearly ran into a cart with fruit as they lunged over the stand, darting after the teen and the man with the long hair. Lucy watched as the older man shoved people out of the way. She huffed, shaking her head at the idiot as she sprinted forward, lifting a hand. A shard of black snaked around his ankle but the guy wriggled out of her grip.
Marc scowled as they ran past a banana stand, sprinting as fast as his body would allow him. Lucy followed behind him, pausing when she saw the bananas hung in front of her face. She materialized Egyptian pounds– way too much for the bananas– and grabbed a bundle as she threw the money at the street vendor.
She ignored the way they gave her odd looks as she peeled a banana with her teeth, taking a bite of the sweet smelling thing as Marc slammed the long-haired guy into the wall. The teen was nowhere to be seen as Marc punched the guy in the gut, over and over again.
"Where's Harrow?" He gritted out.
Lucy chewed on her banana as she held an entire bundle over her shoulder, while one remained opened and in her hand. She took another bite of her banana, a pointed expression on her face as she spitefully took another bite of the banana.
Marc didn't have the right to lecture her when his stupid bird god called her away from her house and her lovely family. It was his fault she was in Egypt and not watching a cute disney movie with Angeliko and Karli.
