"So... What do you want for your birthday?"

I shifted my eyes from my laptop to Chase. "What I want for my birthday?" I ask for confirmation, baka kasi nabibingi lang ako. "Hindi. Ano'ng gusto mo sa Pasko." Pamimilosopo niya. "Ano ba bukas? Diba birthday mo?"

"I don't want anything, Chase."

"Weh? Wala talaga?" He asks in disbelief. "Don't give me the 'basta nandito ka, sapat na,' type of answer. You know I'm not buying that, Dyl."

"Mukha ba akong materialistic, Chase?" I scoffed. "When I said I don't want anything. I don't want anything."

"How about a new camera?" Hindi ako makapaniwala sa sinabi niya. "A new camera?" I repeated at tumango naman siya. "Mind you, Chase. Di ko kailangan iyon, imbes na ipambili mo ng regalo ko. I suggest save your money for your apartment's rent." I snorted and return my eyes to my laptop's screen.

"So akala mo hindi kita kaya ibili ng regalo." Aniya. "You think that I'm too poor and that I couldn't buy you anything?"

This time isinara ko na talaga ang laptop ko ng marinig ko ang sinabi niya. "Ano ka ba, hindi ko sinabi iyon!" I saw him frown. "I-I just feel guilty every time I receive something from you." I explain and his face soften. "I know that you're struggling with financial stuff, it doesn't really matter kung hindi mo ako bibigyan."

He sighed and run his fingers on his hair. Alam ko gustong-gusto niya akong bigyan ng regalo, ngunit kinokonsensya ako kapag binibigyan niya ako. Hindi naman siguro responsibilidad ng isang boyfriend na bigyan ka ng regalo sa bawat event ng buhay mo. As long as we're seeing each other and we have the time for each other, ok na ako dun. Simpleng bagay lang, nasisiyahan na ako. Nakita ko na nalungkot siya sa mga sinabi ko and I sighed.

"Ok... I want a bag for my camera."

"Yun lang?" I rolled my eyes. "Ok! Ok! I'll get it."

Sa totoo lang, hindi ko kailangan ng bagong bag sa camera ko. Kakabili ko lang last month, pero dahil nga sumasama ang loob ni Chase kapag sinasabihan ko siya na hindi niya na ako kailangan regaluhan I just need to think of something cheap and practical.

"Chase, don't take this in the wrong way." I said and hold his hand. "You don't really need gifts to impress me. Tayo na o. We're already in a relationship! Ano pa ba ang kailangan mong patunayan?"
