2023 opinion
Okay, so don't kill me, but I've always had mixed feelings about this. While of course I don't ship these two as endgame, I think they could be adorable. I've always thought that Regulus's more serious (or Sirius) side would tone down James's absolute obnoxiousness, and that James would actually help him with his anxiety. It works really well in wolfstar fanfics too! I love the forbidden love, Slytherin x Gryffindor, and Black cat x golden retriever tropes, and this has all three. That being said, not only can I not see it happening, but I find it rather boring. There are some great fics, but outside of those, I find myself not giving two shits about this ship. There are plenty of others ships I enjoy more. Plus, I just can't imagine James ever going for Regulus, or vice versa.
