Cautionary Disclaimer: my opinions on this ship are purely personal and do not apply to everyone else. I don't care if someone else ships this, nor am I accusing them of anything.

In short, I hate this ship. It's one of my least favourite ships to be honest. It always has been and probably always will be. Harry states many times that he thinks of her like a sister, and they don't have any chemistry whatsoever.

I feel like a lot of Harmony shippers hate Ron, which isn't surprising since the movies made Ron look like an absolute tosser. He was great in the books, and they really captured him and Hermione's relationship in comparison to Harry and Hermione's. I think many shippers mischaracterise Ron and Hermione completely.

Hermione's personality is very specific and often unlikeable. She is my second favourite character, so don't mistake this for me disliking her — she just has very pronounced character flaws. Harry often states that he prefers hanging around Ron and does not react well to her bossiness, nor her fussing. Unlike Ron, Harry refuses to debate Hermione and instead disengages with her (ie. ignores her when he doesn't have the energy to disagree). That's not great for a relationship. Also, while it is a common complaint that Ron isn't "smart enough for Hermione," at least he intellectually stimulates her by challenging her beliefs. Harry doesn't. He prefers to shut Hermione down so that he doesn't have to put up with her rants or anger. Their extreme differences in personality can be worked through and tolerated as friends, but I doubt they could be in a more romantic relationship. It could possibly work in a triad with Ron linking them together, but even that is doubtful.

Besides the pseudo-incest feel of these two, who canonically feel like siblings (not that it is incest, of course, and I am certainly not calling Harmony shippers incest supporters), they just never seemed to be that compatible. You could definitely argue that Hermione and Ron aren't, either, but at least we got to see their relationship, chemistry, and attraction develop. We see none of that with Harry. They never show even a fraction of romantic attraction throughout the series. Many people site the dance between them in the Deathly Hallows, but that was literally just a show of support for Harry's friend...who'd just been abandoned by the love of her life during a life and death situation.

Due to all this, it is one of the few ships I refuse to go anywhere near. I will stop reading fanfics as soon as the ship comes up. I hate it so much. I shouldn't, because I ship much weirder and more controversial ships, but I can't help it! That being said, though, I don't care if anyone else ships it - it's within your right - it's just not my thing at all.
