2023 Opinion
My first thought was that no, I do not ship this. He's literally a serial killer and a genocidal racist who has committed simply disgusting atrocities. This is the epitome of an oppressor x oppressed relationship, which I don't like. Could it get any worse? Unfortunately, I also see the appeal of it, especially once I gave it a try (what? I'm open-minded about this sort of thing). Young Tom Riddle and a very intelligent Hermione who is trying to survive in the past? Interesting. A toxic but loving relationship that moves beyond traditional morality and explores the deepest, darkest aspects of humanity? Also very tempting to read. Or, hear me out, a morally grey Hermione Granger who joins forces with Tom out of spite of revenge? I see it. I mean, I don't really ship it, but it could be good in some circumstances. I've read some fantabulous Tomione fan-fictions which, against all rational thoughts, made me kind of like it? Whoops. It could never be completely healthy, mind you, but the toxicity may be part of the appeal. Don't judge me too harshly before you try the fics yourself.
