2023 opinion
This is super cute. It's not OTP material or anything, but as a temporary ship it would be great. They have similar stories and could relate to each other. I feel like they'd have a short and sweet romance but then realise that they're better off as friends. They're very similar people, really, just with different interests. Plus, Neville is much more in touch with his emotional side. This could also help Harry to get in touch with his emotions and start healing from his trauma. I think Harry would end up as a D.A.D.A teacher after being an auror, so they'd have the perfect opportunity to date! How cute!
I do think they're emotionally compatible. I also think they'd have an awesome sex life. The only problem is I'm not sure if the romantic attraction would be there or if it'd just be awkward. Again, I don't see this lasting beyond a superficial (and short) level, nor as endgame. However, I could see their dynamic working in a poly relationship, so do keep that in mind!
