"YOU WANNA DO SOMETHING AFTER WORK TODAY?" JJ questioned her girlfriend as they stood next to the bar at the Grill. "I heard some breaking news that the ice cream shop got a new flavor. Maybe we could try it out together."
"I wish I could come because that sounds absolutely amazing, but I can't," Charlie replied with an over dramatic sigh.
The blonde girl frowned. "Why not?"
"I'm going on a road trip with Caroline, and we're leaving as soon as I get off," the Lockwood informed her girlfriend.
"Oh, where to?" asked the Martin girl, still wondering why she didn't know about this trip before.
"Georgia," answered the brunette, and when JJ gave her a confused look, she continued to explain. "It's where her dad lives with his boyfriend, Steven. We're going down there for Steven's daughter's birthday."
The blonde girl nodded slowly. "Okay. How long are you guys gonna be gone?"
"Um, we should be back the day after tomorrow," the Lockwood responded before glancing at the clock on the wall and taking off her apron when she saw that it was time for her shift to be up.
Just then, Caroline Forbes walked up to them after her talk with Matt. She turned to Charlie, asking, "You ready?"
"Yeah, one sec," she said before walking over to the blonde girl at the bar and giving her a kiss on the lips. "When I get back, I promise I will buy you all the ice cream you can eat."
"Okay, bye. Be careful of the storm," JJ replied hesitantly, still confused. Then she watched the two best friends walk out of the Grill and run to their car in the rain.
Once they stocked up on snacks and drinks at a gas station just outside of town, they were on the road and on their way to Georgia to meet up with Bill and his partner Steven. It was a 7 hour drive, so they were planning to stop at a hotel at some point to rest for a few hours.
After about five minutes into the drive, Caroline turned to the Lockwood girl with a questioning look. "So, have you talked to your parents at all yet?"
