CHARLIE HAD JUST COME HOME FROM TRANSITIONING. She was now going through the process alone a lot now since Tyler had freaking skipped town. He claimed that he did not want to come back to Mystic Falls until he was better, not wanting to cause any more trouble. He had gone to some mountains or something to transition in peace, and Charlie could not be more pissed. How dare he leave her alone in this? What the heck?

She walked up to her house, ready for a shower when she noticed two envelopes sitting on the welcome mat in front of her door. There was one addressed to her and one addressed to her mother. She furrowed her eyebrows at the very fancy handwriting before tearing open the one for her.

Inside was a very fancily embossed and painted piece of paper that read, "PLEASE JOIN THE MIKAELSON FAMILY THIS EVENING AT SEVEN O'CLOCK FOR DANCING, COCKTAILS, AND CELEBRATION."

Charlie furrowed her eyebrows, wondering who the hell the Mikaelsons were until she remembered Caroline mentioning somewhere in conversation that Klaus' father's name was Mikael. Somehow and for some reason, Damon and Stefan had released the rest of the Original family, so now, all of Klaus and Rebekah's fun siblings and mother were out and about in Mystic Falls. That was going to be so much fun.

So, that evening, when Charlie climbed out of the car that her mother had ordered for some reason — she claimed that it made her feel fancy since they were going to a ball in a black car with tinted and bulletproof window and a driver — she was not shocked to see herself standing in front of Klaus' mansion.

They were not the first ones there since they had arrived a little late — fashionably, in Carol's words, and the grand opening of the doors when they entered caused all eyes to turn to them. The woman was wearing a pretty simple dress, but she had insisted that her daughter wear a fancier one. She was in a dark red ball gown with a flowery bodess that spread out into ruffles that flowed to the ground. She had black heels and silver accessories that included a necklace, a bracelet, and some earrings. Her hair was pulled back in a half-up/half-down hairstyle with white flowers braided into it.

There was live classical music playing, and waiters were walking around with trays full of champagne and tiny foods. Everyone went back to what they were doing before the two walked in after a moment, but Charlie could not help but notice the eyes of a male burning into her skull. He was standing next to a table, and when he saw that he had been caught, he did not look away like most people would. He just smirked at her. She was the one to look away, not failing to notice how attractive he was.
