ELENA HAD DECIDED TO THROW A PARTY TO GET SPIRITS UP. It was held just outside Mystic Falls at this swimming hole, and Charlie was actually having fun for once. The previous week, she had gone with Caroline to talk to Enzo since he was apparently the only one trying to get Damon and Bonnie back, and all three of them went down to Stefan's new house and talked to him and his girlfriend .

The whole trip was unsuccessful with Enzo beating up Stefan a few times but no one changing his mind. He was happy with his new life, and he claimed that it was impossible to get them back. So, Charlie and Jeremy were just swimming and enjoying each other's company before something else crazy happened and ruined their peaceful moment. "How are you doing with Bonnie?"

"Good," he answered, but it was not very convincing to each of them. They were right by the waterfall, which gave them some privacy since no one could hear them. They were just floating on their backs and looking up at the sky through their sunglasses.

Charlie glanced over at him and eyes him suspiciously because she had heard that he had been drinking a lot while she was gone and just kind of wallowing on the couch. She knew that Bonnie was his best friend, but that was just unhealthy. "That's not what Matt says."

"Matt's lying," he insisted, shaking his head.

She sighed. She did not believe him, but she was just happy that he was there with her now and not hidden under thousands of blankets and liquor bottles. She outstretched. her fingers so that they touched his. "Well, we went to see Stefan about getting them back, and it turns out that he gave up on trying months ago."

"Dick," he muttered, shaking his head. It was true. Stefan was being a dick, but she us guessed that she could not blame him for wanting to start a new life outside of the chaos that was their little friend group that all kind of hated each other. She heard him moving, and she gasped slightly when she felt his arms under her, picking her up from out of the water. "Until we figure it out, I heard about this spot that's supposed to be pretty private."

"It's not very private if someone told you about it," she pointed out, laughing as he carried her out of the swimming hole. Man, those Hnter muscles were really working, despite the fact that he was not a Hunter anymore.
