THEY HAD EXPLAINED THE PLAN TO BONNIE THE NEXT DAY. She seemed to think that it would work and was willing to help. Elena had discovered that morning that the water had vervain in it, and Bonnie had yelled at her father about it. He did realize that a lot of her loved ones were vampires, right?

It was then night time, and they were about to set their plan in action. Elena took Jeremy's phone, and the four of them — Matt, Jeremy, Charlie, and Elena — were all sitting in the living room around the phone when Kol answered. "Jeremy Gilbert. Nice to see I'm still on your speed dial, mate. Hey, you want to meet up at the batting cages in Denver?"

"Actually, it's Elena Gilbert," she informed him, glancing around at the people around her to make sure that she sounded normal and not suspicious. Matt nodded at her.

"What a treat," the man responded with a chuckled, and it was kind of creepy. "Yeah, I was just thinking of all the clever ways I could have your brother killed, but I'd settle for ripping off his illustrated arm instead."

The others slowly got up and headed over to the dining room table to help set up weapons in preparation for this meeting with the Original. They needed to be a million steps ahead if it was going to work. "I need to talk to you – in person. I wanna call a truce, in the name of Silas. I'll meet you wherever you want. I'll come to you."

"I'll tell you what. How about I come to you?" The doorbell rang, and they all froze and turned to look at it in surprise. Jeremy cocked a gun and pointed it at the door. "If you want a truce, open the door and invite me in." Elena was flustered by the unexpected turn of events and was searching around for her next move. "I'm waiting. Let me in and let's talk truce. She grabbed a black board fmo the wall and began writing. "Hello?"

"Wouldn't that be kind of stupid to invite you in?" she questioned, trying to buy herself some time while she wrote.

"On the contrary, I can't kill your brother with my own two hands, or I'll suffer the hunter's curse and spend the next 20 years trying to off myself in gruesome ways." She spun around the sign to show Matt and tell him to help Stefan find a dagger. He nodded and headed out the back door. "And I've heard that vervain's back in town, so I can't compel you to kill him either. So I think it's fair to say you're semi-safe, for now."
