meeting the inlaws || 2

takes place post httyd 2 and pre httyd 3! please read part 1 if you haven't!

ps: they are in their httyd 3 outfits and valka does not live with them

Astrid walked over to Hiccup who was hunched over the balcony rail. She placed her hand on his shoulder as she always would to show her affection and care. 

He didn't look back nor place his hand on top of hers. He just kept staring at the view they had of the village of Berk. There wasn't much to look at though, it was almost midnight and pitch black outside. 

Astrid removed her hand from Hiccup's shoulder and placed it on top of Hiccup's hands which were on the rail. They were cold, not warm like how they usually are.

She couldn't vare seeing her lover like this anymore and had to ask, "Hiccup, what's wrong?"

He only muttered a few words and still didn't look at her. Astrid tried to make out what he said and what she heard was 'nothing'. Well she knew damn right that it wasn't 'nothing'.

"Hiccup, look at me," she said in a commanding tone. He still didn't look at her and instead turned his head away from her more. "Was it something my dad said?" 

Suddenly Hiccup felt tears in his eyes.

He brings up a hand to cover his face and when he speak, his voice is all high pitched and wobbly.

"I feel like shit."

Astrid didn't know how to respond. Seeing her love look and feel like this made her heart break. Actions speak louder than words, they say. So, she pulled Hiccup into an affectionate hug. 

He couldn't hold it in anymore and sobbed uncontrollably into her neck. Hiccup held on the Astrid tightly, needing her support. 

She rubbed comforting circles on his back and soothed him. The only way she would get an answer is if Hiccup was calm and composed. Not having a mental breakdown and sobbing.

His sobs finally died down and they pulled apart. Astrid cupped his cheeks in her hands and said, "It's okay, Hiccup. You can tell me,"

Hiccup took one deep breath and confessed, "Maybe you're Dad's right. I send you out on rescue missions, or suicide missions as he says and you come home all beaten up and bruised. And I take it as a joke. I don't deserve you, Astrid. A real man would actually care for his girl and not send her out on missions only for her to come home severely injured,"

More tears rolled down his cheeks as he said that he gently removed Astrid's hands from his cheeks.

"No, Hiccup. Please don't let what my dad said get to you. It's not your fault that I come home bruised and beaten up. It isn't you who sends me on these missions. I love rescuing dragons. It's my initiative and job to do this. And besides, it's only fun if you get a scar out of it,"

They both chuckle at her last sentence and Astrid places her hand on his cheeks once again, using her thumbs to rub his tear away.

"You deserve me as much as I deserve you," she states and kisses Hiccup. He returns the kiss as his arms lace around her waist and pull her closer.

"Thank you, Astrid. I don't know what I'd do without you," he said as they pulled away from each other.

Astrid holds Hiccups hand and brings him back into the house, upstairs and into their room. They change out of their day clothes and into more comfier ones for bed. 

Hiccup gets under the covers first, followed by Astrid and she places her head in the crook of his neck.

He kisses her goodnight and they both fall asleep in each others arms.

the prompt was meeting astrid's family so this kinda popped into my head.
