anywho, someone wanted a full version of 'illicit affairs' from the chapter 'cruel summer' and here it is! 

takes place post rtte - httyd 2 

Tradition is tradition. Rules are rules. An heir should only marry an heiress. A Chief should only marry a Chieftess.

Hiccup Haddock, son of Stoick and Vast and heir to the throne of Berk was turning 20 in spring of next year.

His father had been nagging him to get out there on that dragon and find a woman before it's too late. Too late in a sense that Stoick himself has to pick somebody himself.

Hiccup always fly away on Toothless before Stoick could even finish his conversation, leaving him frustrated and fuming.

It wasn't that Hiccup didn't want to marry anyone, but because he had already found someone. But that someone is unfortunately not an heiress nor a Chieftess.

She is simply a mere 19 year old girl who lives in Berk. That girl is Astrid Hofferson. Best known warrior on the Island. The most beautiful and desirable girl on Berk. 

They found love for each other during their time at the Edge. With great caution, they managed to hide their relationship from the rest of the Gang for the past year. 

Stoick had no knowledge of this illicit affair his son was having with the village girl. If he did know, Hiccup would be dead before you knew it.

Every night when the village had gone to sleep, Hiccup would sneak out of his home and climb through the window of Astrid's room.

That was how they spent their time together. Being each others therapists, their shoulder to cry on and many, many more.

Hiccup was in his room, sitting at his desk as he worked on yet another sketch. Drawing was a common pastime for him. It helped him calm down after a long, stressful day with his dad.

Him and Astrid had planned to meet on this particular night. Hiccup has recently been doing a lot of Chief training with his dad and he has been really overwhelmed with all the work that has been dumped on him. 

He just needs someone to comfort him, someone who understands him. Someone like Astrid.

Knock knock knock

Hiccup head swivelled to the right where he saw Astrid knocking on his window. His face lit up at the sight of his beloved and a wide grin grew on his face. 

Before he could get to the window, Toothless managed to get there before him and open the window for Astrid. Just like how he was trained to. 

"Thanks, Toothless!" She whispered happily as she scratched Toothless under the chin.

She then hopped through the window and gave Hiccup a warm hug. 

"How are you feeling?" She asked as she stared into his eyes, rubbing his side in comfort. 

He sighed in defeat. He wasn't feeling good at all. 

"Not the best. My dad's been really hard on me the past week. It's just... tiring, you know?" He said as tears threatened to pour from his eyes. 

Astrid pulled him into yet another hug and he fell into it just like she had wanted. She buried his face in the crook of her neck as she stroked his hair in a calming movement.
