Tuesday
3:15 p.mClarke Augustan.
"Can I talk to you?" His voice was soft and timid, almost as if he was scared I'd say no. I was on my way home, seeing that football practice had been cancelled.
"Of course." I replied with a smile, smiling for both of us. "Anything for you, Dan." I added a wink hoping he'd smile at least then, and to my lucky stars, he did crack half a smile.
"It's about Aaron." He started off breaking my gaze from the trees I was staring at. I let out a sigh and slowly leaned against my car.
"Dan, there is nothing-"
"You can't keep lying to us. You can't keep lying to me. I've seen the way you look at him when you think no one is watching you. I've seen how you unconsciously smile at the stupid shit he does, and how you know he is going to say something, way before he does-"
"Wait, how the fuck do you know that?"
"You would look at him expectantly, with that slight gaze like your subconscious is telling you he'll speak now. And before he'd even open his mouth, you'd already be looking at him, while everyone else would be busy doing something else." My jaw dropped. "Don't look surprised, I'm taking up psychology next year as my main."
"Well, seems like you'll have no trouble topping it." I replied still dazed at how sharp he actually was.
"What can I say, I like being on top." He replied with a suggestive smile making me cringe immediately.
"Let me know what Aaron likes." I replied with a smirk at my subtle playful rejection towards him.
"Aaron likes going down, I'd know-"
"Please stop right there."
"Alright alright, but just know I don't like sharing Aaron." He replied I'm between his laughter, feigning possessiveness in his voice.
"You almost had me there, but wasn't it you who was playing band-aid between Aaron and me few seconds ago?" I asked him back with my own laughter.
"Oh that. Yes, can we get back to it?" His voice was grave and I almost wanted to hit myself for reminding him about it. "Just hear me out." He added quickly as he saw the dejected expression on my face. I shrugged motioning him to continue.
"You wouldn't let anything stop you either way." I grumbled which he smoothly ignored.
"Aaron is generally known to be that happy-go guy, with jokes only he finds funny-"
"Hey, I find him funny! You find him funny too! Just agree, jackass."
"Wow, look at the defense mechanism kicking in."
"Keep mocking and you'll get kicked."
"A'ight. Where was I?" He pondered for a second. "Oh yeah, he's always walking around with those charming smiles and his hair falling in front of his eye slightly. With that dimple-"
"Are you sure I'm the one who likes him and not you?"
"Yeah, really funny." He replied, his face expression letting me know he wasn't impressed with my joke.
"Are you sure? Cause I gotta lil' confused." I was still laughing at my own joke while his cheeks turned slightly pink. "Are you actually blushing? Oh my God." I laughed even harder.
