We bunked again. Both of us sat under the tree, busy in our own world. I was doing my math homework and she busied herself with a book.
"You squint a lot. Do you have power?" She asked me while I was struggling with a math problem.
"Why? Does it say so in your book?" I questioned her back with my eyes still trained on my notebook. I knew she'd be blushing because I had caught her staring at me instead of reading but I couldn't let the opportunity go. She looked really cute when she squirmed uncomfortably or blushed.
"No, but it does say if you stare at something too hard, it'll go away."
A loud laugh escapes me when I lift my head to look at her grumpy face. "Then it surprises me why you haven't left yet." I added with an arrogant smile and a wink. She rolled her eyes and hit me with her book.
"Same here. But do you want me to leave?"
"I don't like accepting favours from people." Her jaw dropped as she looked at me in disbelief at my answer.
"Y-You-" I saw her struggling with her words in search of a good retort. I held up my hand, pausing her, as I searched for something in my bag.
"Here's a dictionary. Sounds like you need it more than me." The dictionary came flying back at me as soon as these words left my mouth. I bursted out laughing while she ignored me and went back to her book.
"Clarkie?" I called out for the fifth time already tired of her ignoring me for more than fifteen minutes now.
"Call me that one more time and the dictionary won't be the last thing flying towards your face." I smiled brightly at her snarly reply, happy that she finally replied.
"If it starts with 'C' and ends with 'E, then I don't mind it flying towards my face." I replied with a wink, turning her cheeks soft pink in a second.
"Oh it'll for sure start with 'C' and end with you in the hospital bloodied."
"Oo, your mind is quite gruesome for your pretty face, dear."
"What can I say? You bring out this side of me." She replied with a bright fake smile. "Plus, you deserve fists flying towards your pretty face." Stressing on the word pretty she went back to her book after letting me know she hates me.
"You wound me, sweetheart." I replied with fake sadness as my hand moved towards my chest.
"And I can't wait for the day I physically do." She replied without missing a beat or looking from her book. I just smiled proudly at the girl in front of me and continued to stare at her as she continued reading.
"I'm pretty sure my face isn't a math problem." She added quietly after few minutes making me laugh out loud. I saw a tiny smile escape her lips as she glanced at me.
"Well, I hope not and I quite like your face while I hate problematic math equations." A groan left my lips. She ignored my comment about her face, even though I knew it left her flustered, and grabbed my book to observe the sum I was struggling with. And in a minute, she was explaining and teaching me how to solve it. I stared at her in awe and respect as she finished teaching me the sum.
"How do you know all of that when all you do is sleep?" I questioned her surprised.
"My secret talent."
"How?"
"Well, if I tell you then it won't be a secret talent anymore, now would it?" I think her answer just mind fucked me.
