I wasn't shocked at the fact that there was a gun pointing at me, oh no, I was more shocked at the fact that I didn't see it coming. I never let anyone come this close, never let my defense down, but here I stood with a gun pointing behind me at my back.
How could I be so oblivious?
"Shit, Clarke, backup? Fuck. Code red? Oh my god. Holy." Hedge's frantic word vomit flowed through my ears and I had to resist the urge to smile at him. He wasn't used to code red as he spent a lot of time in the room inventing and messing about gadgets, and when he actually encounters it, he freaks out. The tight grip on my arm brought me back to reality and I realised I was being dragged outside with the gun still pointing at my waist behind my jacket. He whistled loudly without using hands, which I have to agree- it impressed me because I could only whistle loudly using my hand- and at the command of the whistle a black Range Rover sped towards us in few seconds. Thankfully I stepped back in time or I would have lost a toe or two. I glared and cursed the crazed driver as I stole a glance at the number plate.
"XK-1-295." I muttered the number on the number plate of the car under my breath hoping it was not hard for Hedge to catch it.
"Got it!" Were his words that relieved me immensely.
"What was that?" The guy next to me hissed at me as his grip on my arm tightened. His fingernails dug in my arm harshly, almost making me want to wince at the pain, but I kept my composure and looked at him with a straight face.
"You're ugly." I replied back breezily fighting back a smile that wanted to escape at his reaction. He let out a viscous growl and pushed me inside the car harshly. He motioned the guy in the driver's seat to start the car as he closed the door with a loud, bang. He roughly tied my hands with a rope and pushed me to the other side making me hit my head hard to the window. I surpressed a groan and patiently waited for the backup.
"Oh my god, the car is being traced, you're heading east. I'm also calling back up right now." Hedge's worried voice boomed in my ears making me sigh in relief. The two idiots figured out I was in a call only when the driver looked back casually and found the earphones peeking out behind my hair. And that happened twenty minutes into the drive.
"Oye! She is on call with someone you, dick." He yelled at the arrogant guy, who was busy staring out of the windows. I smirked casually as he turned his murderous eyes towards me. He quickly grabbed my earphones with my phone and threw it out of the window in a second.
I need a second to understand what just happened.
I felt my jaw drop as I slowly watched my phone disfigure itself as it hit the ground hard.
"You just didn't do that." I whispered with eyes wide still staring back at my broken phone which was turning into a tiny dot by nearing second. But I still stared at it, until it sunk in.
"What are you going to do about it, doll face?" He seethed as he let out a harsh laugh in my ears.
Screw backup.
I elbowed him straight in his face, aiming for his nose, since I knew his face was close to my ears. He let out a loud growl as he clutched his now bleeding nose in pain. I quickly kicked him in his ribs making him hunch and groan out yet again.
"You don't just throw my phone and except me to leave you without killing!" I yelled as I kneed his face while he was hunching.
"You, bitch!" He yelled back but I didn't give him even a second to retaliate. I quickly kicked his hand which had the gun making him lose his possession of the gun. The gun fell from his hand and slid down under the driver's seat. down out of his hand and slid under the driver's seat. He let out a frustrated yell and pulled me forward by my hair, a really tight grip which I feared would pluck all my hair out.
