Entry 53 continue-
Before they could do anything to Aaron, I pushed all the assembled spring floors forward towards the three men facing Aaron with all my strength. They tried moving away but since I had the element of surprise, they weren't fast enough. Aaron used the distraction perfectly and knocked the two guys, who were holding him, into unconsciousness. I jumped on one guy and twisted his neck so I could watch his lifeless limp body fall to the ground. I quickly grabbed his fallen gun and shot the only one who was alive and punching Aaron. I winced at the hard punch Aaron received and felt bad for not shooting his offender earlier. He glanced around the room, digesting his past few minutes, and looked back at me with a solemn look in his eyes. The room was unbearably silent. And it remained silent for a long time as we stared at each other with no words to say. The silence was louder. The near possibility of either one of us turning into bullet-riddled corpse felt heavier than I believed it would. That scared me even more. The reality harsher than our breaths knocked on a door I hadn't seen before.
Safe was just a word unlucky people couldn't use anymore.
Unlucky people who didn't know tomorrow was never going to come.
"Stop. Clarke, I know what you're thinking. You can't think like that! I-I can't promise you anything, I mean-I- I don't even know what to say!" He rushed towards me as soon as I looked away from his unbearable gaze. He wiped away a tear that couldn't help but escape my eye. "Stop, babe. Please listen, okay? Listen to me?" I nodded in reply as I didn't trust my voice enough to speak.
"I don't know anything either. I am as lost as you. But I can assure you one thing and that is, we are fine. Okay? We are fine. We are fine right now, aren't we?"
"That's right. We are fine until we aren't." I replied back coldly and took a step behind away from him.
"B-" Before he could say anything, a group of people rushed into the room, consisting of Penelope, Drew and avcouple of security guards. Drew eyes instantly found ours and rushed towards us like his life depended on it.
Maybe it really did.
"Are you alright? What the fuck? How can the security be shit at a prestigious school like this? Are you hurt?" He worriedly asked Aaron and inspected him for any visible injury. I had never seen Dan react this way and I could only imagine how much his friends loved him too.
"Hey, mate." Aaron gripped Dan's shoulders to stop his worried antics. "I'm alright, okay? I'm fine. I'm still breathing." Aaron shifted his grip towards the arch of Dan's neck and looked hard straight into his eyes.
"I am okay." He repeated once more lifting Dan's face up so he could meet Dan's pair of warm brown eyes.
"I-I'm sorry. I j-just-"
"Don't be sorry, man. I got you. We good?" He asked once more with a firm pat on the shoulder to which Dan responded with a shaky nod. Seeming to realise that even I was present and a part of the horrifying incident, Dan turned towards me with a very guilty expression. Before either of us could say a word, a frantic Penny grabbed all our attention. She stared down at all the bodies and started screaming.
"They're inside my school! I see dead bodies! They're inside! I see-" She stopped mid sentence like she realised something new again, "I see dead people." She looked towards me wide hollow eyes which only held fear and nothing else. I immediately rushed towards to hold her and comfort her.
"Hey, it's alright- I need you to take deep breaths-"
"SECURITY!" She screamed bloody murder and started crying hysterically. "I see them! Take them away! He is dead! He is dead!"
