Carmen's Pov.

"I wish you would have agreed to come with me until that asshole left your apartment."

I poked at my waffle on my plate and gave Terence a painfully forced smile. He picked me up from my apartment a while ago to get some breakfast. I didn't see Harry this morning so he must have left. I was able to take a shower, put on a change of clothes, and cover my pale, sickly face with makeup. After last night I don't want to see Harry again.

"It was better if I stayed, Terence, I told you that." I told him, even though it wasn't better for me. "I'm okay."

I'm not okay. I'm an emotional wreck with purple bruises on my arms from how hard Harry grabbed me.

"Are you sure?" He asked and I nodded.

"So why was Henry in your apartment anyway? He doesn't seem like your type."

"His name's Harry." I corrected, a twig of annoyance from his mistake settled in my stomach and I tried to push that unwanted emotion away.

"Sorry," Terence said, stealing a strip of bacon off my plate and popping it in his mouth before I could snatch it back. "But I don't care."

I rolled my eyes and shrugged my shoulders. I really didn't want to talk about Harry with him.

"It's complicated." I muttered and ate the rest of my bacon before he could take them.

"Are you serious?" Terence scoffed. "Just tell me-"

"Can we talk about something else?" I asked. How can I talk about the subject which is Harry when I don't understand how I feel? How can I when I don't know much about Harry at all?

Terence subtly nodded his head and I quietly thanked him. We ate in an uncomfortable silence when Terence's phone chimed. He took a look at and put it back in his pocket. His action peeked my curiosity and I swallowed the food in my mouth.

"Who was that?" I asked him.

"A friend that lives in this area." He stated and I slowly started to smile.

"Is it a girl?" I asked and Terence choked on his water. I pressed my lips in a firm line to keep from laughing.

"Yes, yes, it is." He recovered, tapping his chest.

"You should hang out with her." I told him. "It's about time you get a woman in your life."

Terence playfully snorted and I tilted my head at him.

"I'm came all the way to New York to spend time with my sister, not anyone else." Terence stated and I rolled my eyes, putting jelly on my toast.

"You're only in New York for a few days, Terence. Make the most of it. Just seeing you makes me happy and it wouldn't kill me if you went and had some fun with a potential girl friend."

Terence seemed to think about this and I took the opportunity to bite in to my toast. Of course I wanted to spend time with my brother but I also wanted to spend time with myself. After everything that's going on I needed a break.

"Are you sure, Car?" Terence asked. "I don't want to-"

"Terence." I said, cutting him off. "Go for it. You don't have opportunities like this all the time. If you don't hang out with her, I will."
