I'm addicted to a life that's so empty and so cold.

Carmen's Pov.

The day ticked by slowly and thankfully I made it through. Most of my professors were monotone and repetitive, making the class simple yet extremely boring. Not to mention tedious.

I made it through my final class with my backpack and textbooks filled with new papers that I had to complete over the weekend. I had to write two essays and then do plenty of work from my textbooks.

I blew a piece of my hair from my face and made my way toward my car. My car stayed here all night when Harry took me home in his car. He drove me to school today and after a few minutes of debating, I was going to drive myself home. I unlocked my car and dropped my things in the passenger's seat.

"Carmen."

My body jumped at the sound of someone shouting my name and I whipped around and watched as Harry's sister stalked toward me.

My body froze up and I was immediately nervous. I didn't know what to say to her, nor why she wanted to talk to me now. I swallowed the nervous lump in my throat and watched as she slowly came to a stop in front of me.

"Caught you just in time." Gemma said crossing her arms and I gave her a friendly smile.

"W-What's up?" I stuttered a bit and leaned coolly against my car.

"My mum wanted me to apologize for earlier today." She said letting out a exasperated sigh. "Apparently I was rude to you or some crap like that."

"It's alright." I told her, lying. It was obvious she knew she was rude earlier, but didn't care. Her apology lacked sincere regret, but I just wanted this conversation to end.

"That's what I said." She muttered and I forced my smile to stay on my face, even though it was threatening to slip.

"Well if that's it-" I began but she surprisingly cut me off.

"How much do you know?" She asked and I narrowed my eyes as the sun's light shined in my eyes.

"Excuse me?" I asked.

"Wow, she's deaf, too. What a keeper." She sized me up and my cheeks heated up in embarrassment. "What has Harry told you?"

I felt very uncomfortable underneath Gemma's stare and shifted in my stance. I just wanted to get in my car and go home. Was that too much to ask?

"Enough." I told her and she glared harder at me. I was already hated by this girl, so I might as well not even pretend to be nice.

"And a smartass. Wow." Gemma gave me a menacing smirk and I rolled my eyes. Oncoming tears burned at the back of my throat and the urge to sob hit me hard.

It's not that I couldn't stand the thought of someone not liking me. I just can't stand the thought of her not liking me. This was Harry's sister. The idea of Harry's sister not liking me made me sick to my stomach and insecure about myself.

"You know," Gemma began, staring me down. "Things would be so much easier if you just left Harry alone."

"What's your problem?" I asked, annoyed at the fact that her words had such a huge impact on me.
