AMY

Christmas in Perth had been more than amazing. I didn't think I'd enjoy the festive period half as much in the hot Australian heat, but this felt far better than the horrible rain, sleet or potential snow in which England had to offer.

Even though I had been living in Sydney for years prior to meeting Daniel, I'd always travel back to the UK to spend the holidays with my mom and dad, never once choosing to spend one in Australia.

Grace and Joe were exceptional hosts and they put on a rather large feast for myself and my family as my mom and dad relished on the continuous buffet in which Grace kept adding to.

Food as far as they eye could see was dotted around their kitchen, which soon didn't last long with the copious amounts of food I had been consuming over the past week.

Faith had informed me that it was completely normal that I'd have a sudden urge to eat. But this wasn't just a one-off desire, I constantly wanted to stuff my face with everything in sight, loading up on more and more edible items when we visited the supermarket yesterday.

Daniel was hosting a small New Year's party for his friends and family. My parents had flown home yesterday, choosing to leave down under to head back to London where their friends were also hosting a small party.

Michael and Blake had returned from their families, as well as Scotty and Chloe who had just returned from Melbourne. Faith, Bonnie and Harvey were all still here; Bonnie and Harvey had tickets to fly out tomorrow afternoon as Harvey would need to return back to school in a few days time. It was nice to have some additional female company into the mix.

"Your hair is gorgeous." I said to Faith whilst I stood behind her, perched on the dressing table stool, as I straightened her hair, brushing out any kinks or knots. "You've both got such wonderful hair." I reiterated my point and looked across to Bonnie who shared the same distinct auburn coloured locks as her sister.

Faith smiled politely as she went on to describe how all her female family members had red hair and it was inevitable that her and her sister would also end up with it, as well as any girls she may have in the future.

Bonnie peered out of the bedroom window to take a look outside, small shouting could be heard through the glass windows.

"Michael is so sweet." Bonnie commented as Faith and I stood up to take a look at what she was talking about. I placed the straighteners onto the side, ensuring they were on the heat protection mat before whisking over towards the window.

Michael was in the goal as Harvey continuously kicked the ball towards his direction. Shouts and celebrations erupted as Harvey had passed the ball behind the line and into the back of the net, only for Michael to pat the teenager on the back and throw the ball back towards him.

Faith bit down onto her bottom lip as she looked at the scene, only for Michael to look up and catch a glimpse of her small frame in the window. Michael's hand reached up and waved at her, causing Faith to burst into a crimson complexion and wave back, slightly embarrassed that she had been staring.

"Harvey seems to like Michael." Bonnie commented and Faith sat back down in her seat as I continued to straighten her hair. "It's very unlike Harvey to like a man in your life."

"I know, Bonnie. But there isn't anything happening between Michael and I." Faith spoke as she fidgeted with the bracelet wrapped tightly around her wrist. "Besides, not every man wants to take on a woman with a 14 year old son."

"I'd say that Michael doesn't look too bothered." Bonnie smirked as she took a seat at the end of the bed, placing her boots on and zipping them up her calves.
