AMY
Packing up my belongings, I had decided not to join everyone in Perth, but instead I'd be heading back to England to spend some time with my mom and dad and also visit my grandparents.
This seemed completely boring in comparison to what the others had planned; days out to the beach, barbecues, dirt and quad biking.
"Are you sure that you don't want to come?" Rachel asked as she sat down on the end of Michael's bed. Daniel stood with his arms crossed in the corner as he watched me zip up my suitcase as I double checked that I had collected all of my belongings.
Their flight to Perth wasn't until this evening, I was heading for the UK now.
Daniel hadn't had a good weekend in Hungary, even after a good second practice. He'd placed fifteenth in yesterday's race, which resulted in him locking himself away for the evening, spending his last moments here in Budapest alone in his room.
"I'm sure. I'm going to see my grandparents for a few days." I told her as I double checked my handbag for my passport and travel documents.
"Send them my love, then." Rachel half-smiled as she looked over at Daniel's disappointment, hoping that I'd be joining them to visit his home town.
I bent down to pick my suitcase up, wincing in pain as a cramp hit my stomach.
"You alright?" Daniel finally spoke as he rushed to my side, picking my bag up for me. I giggled as I nodded, trying to brush off his concern. "Seriously, you look like you're in pain."
"Dan, I'm on my period. It's no big deal." I admitted as Rachel giggled behind me, flicking her hair behind her shoulders as Daniel's face eased as he realised I was fine after all.
"I've got some pain killers and stuff in my bag, if you'd like? Or chocolate, I'm sure there's chocolate somewhere..." Without hesitation, he started to rifle through his things, locating a pot of pills and a bar of chocolate, which was safely concealed with his clothes.
"Are you hiding food in your bag?" I giggled as he handed them over to me, kindly accepting them as he extended his arm.
"Don't you dare tell Michael." Daniel warned me before turning around to Rachel. "Either of you."
And with that, my phone notified me that my taxi was outside waiting for me. Whisking down the hallways of the hotel, finally reaching the entrance of reception and bounding outside, the cool air hit my bare arms.
Daniel picked up my bags and placed them into the vehicle as Rachel gave me a tight hug.
"I'm going to miss you." She whispered in my ear as we both started to get teary eyed.
"Enjoy yourself." I smiled back at her as we hugged each other tighter and closer for a while longer.
Pulling away, Rachel escorted herself back inside the hotel, waving as she went as I blew her a kiss. Dramatically, she caught it and held it close to her heart.
Daniel shut the boot of the car before moving around to where I was stood. Turning around, I faced him as he opened his wingspan to wrap me in his arms.
With my arms still placed around his back, he placed each hand on each side of my face and locked our eyes together.
"Let me know when you get there." He stated as I smiled and remained silent, taking in the iridescent beauty of his eyes. "You're always welcome to come, if you change your mind."
"I know." I smiled again.
"Send my love to your mom and dad and say hello to your grandparents from me." He stated again, rambling as he didn't quite want me to leave yet. "I'll speak to you everyday, I promise."
