6 months later

AMY

"I can't believe she's 6 months old already!" Faith exclaimed as she entered the bedroom to find myself and Amelia on the bed.

I sat cross-legged in front of my babbling daughter as she chewed on her teething ring, spreading her spit around the surface of the toy.

Faith moved onto the bed and sat down next to us, stroking Amelia's arm softly as she proceeded to make noises.

"Is Michael not with you?" I asked as I lifted Amelia up in the air and placed her down into my lap, pressing a firm kiss to her head in the process.

"He's just parking the car." Faith smiled as the roar of Daniel and Michael echoed up the stairs from downstairs in the kitchen. "You really can hear them before you see them, can't you?" Faith giggled as she waited for me to stand up with her, following her as we made our way downstairs.

"Is that Uncle Michael?" I cooed over at my daughter who smiled brightly in my arms.

She loved Michael, probably more than she loved Daniel and I. Michael's face lit up with excitement as he noticed Amelia, reaching his arms out in the air to take her out of my grips.

Daniel smiled as he boiled the kettle before whisking behind me to wrap his arms around my waist, resting his hands across my stomach. His fingertips etched into my skin as he grazed his touch across the fabric of my dress.

"Don't make it obvious." I said to Daniel before he chuckled with a dry throat and pressed a kiss firmly on my neck as Faith and Michael continued their focus on our daughter.

"When are you next back at work, Dan?" Faith asked as Michael decided to take Amelia outside to show her the birds which had landed onto the bird table outside.

Daniel looked behind him as he poured boiling water over each tea bag in four separate mugs.

"I have some simulator work in Milton Keynes next week and then I have some media bits in Monaco. I'll be gone around three weeks before being back home again." Daniel said as he placed some sugar into Faith's mug, knowing our hot drinks order off by heart now.

"Aren't you going, Ame?" Faith asked as she raised her eyebrow. "You've travelled with Amelia before?"

I didn't want to lie to my friend but I also didn't want to reveal why I wouldn't be travelling with Daniel for the time being.

"Is this because you haven't been very well?" Faith asked as Michael came back into the house where Amelia was crying hysterically.

"Oh baby, what's wrong?" I walked past Faith, ignoring her line of questioning to take my daughter out of Michael's arms. As soon as she felt my presence, she settled in my arms. "Michael, what did you do?"

"She was happy watching the birds and then just started to cry." He shrugged as he accepted the freshly brewed mug of tea from Daniel.

"It's her lunch time anyway." I smiled as I placed her down into her high chair and whisked away to the fridge to remove the freshly prepared mixture of mashed fruit which she seemed to love.

As soon as I set the bowl down in front of her, her eyes lit up.

Spooning the mixture into her mouth, the smell of the banana and strawberry started to make me feel nauseous.

"Dan, can you take over please?" I said as I smashed the bowl and spoon back down in front of my daughter as my feet ran as quick as they could towards the downstairs bathroom so I could inevitably empty my stomach into the toilet.
