The visit to see Amy didn't go to plan, at all.

I was hoping that she would've opened the door of her brothers' home and would forgive me all at once. Forgetting the mistakes I've made and moving on, as if nothing happened.

Of course, I couldn't expect that from her. But I didn't know how else I could show her just how much I care about her, love her and want to be with her for the rest of my life.

I wasn't Mr Romantic, I didn't have it all planned out with some grand gesture which could ensure she falls to her knees, head over heels for me.

All I could provide was heartache. Stupid, nonsensical, heartache.

The argument would just be going round in circles in if I had chosen to stay longer, but knowing Delilah was trying to sleep upstairs didn't make me feel as if I wanted to continue shouting.

As I passed the corridor of the hotel, I retraced my steps, making my way back towards a different room to mine.

Max's.

"Didn't go well?" Max said as he opened the door to welcome me into his suite. I groaned and slumped myself down onto the sofa, ripping open a bottle of water.

"We just argue. We can't seem to speak to each other." I informed him as he nodded and sat down in the arm chair opposite. "How am I ever going to get through to her?"

"Why do you want to get through to her?" Max questioned as he leaned forward, reaching for a peanut from the bowl on the table.

"Because I love her, Max. I asked her to marry me, I don't think it's any secret anymore as to why I'm trying to chase her." I answered his question with a sarcastic tone, confused why he'd ask that in the first place.

Max leaned back in his seat and picked the peanuts which were lay in the palm of his hand and popped them into his mouth.

"I don't think she cares for you in the same way that you care for her." He said whilst chewing. "You wouldn't have broken up with her without talking to her first. She broke off an engagement! That's huge."

I nodded at his words and rubbed my hands together as I leaned forward in my seat, firmly planting my feet on the floor.

"Has she been with anyone else?" Max asked as he leaned his head on his left fist.

"She's stopped dating that Charlie guy. She said she couldn't do it."

"So, she hasn't been with anyone else since or slept with anyone?" He spoke carefully as I tried to arrange the words in my head.

"She hasn't slept with anyone. I asked her whether she thought about having sex with Charlie. To that, she admitted that she had thoughts about doing it."

Max chuckled whilst he placed his fingers over his mouth to muffle the expression which ached, dying to pour from his lips.

"Just say what you've got to say." I informed the Dutchman who leaned forward in his seat, staring directly at me.

"You are chasing a girl who broke off your engagement without consulting you and had thoughts about fucking another guy a day or so afterwards." Max chuckled and shook his head. "You can do so much better, mate."

I stood up from my chair and turned my back on Max, taking in the French scenery from the windows which wrapped around his room.

"Max, you need to realise that I want her. You may have a different opinion of her now, but you need to respect what I want." I told him, my back still  firmly against him.
