Tom's pov~

It was fucking crowded. Couples making out everywhere, even in the kitchen by the drinks. Didn't they have anywhere else to go?! Jesus fuck!
"Piss off!" I grumbled at this guy, sucking out the hell of his girlfriend right on the kitchen counter, with her legs wrapped around his torso, not giving me a single chance whatsoever to pour even a drop of cheap liquid down my throat.

The two of them gave me a look of repulsion. Was ready to throw them out of the house with my own bare hands if they weren't to move away within the next 10 seconds. After all, it was still partly my house, fuck Paddy's friends. If they have no manners, they have no business here.
"Jerk.." The boy mumbled, but then left with his girlfriend. One more word and I would have lost my patience, I won't lie.
Then I grabbed some of the cheap liquor and poured myself a drink in one of the red plastic cups. Was about to take a sip when Sam appeared in front of me. "Don't!" He grumbled, keeping his voice low. He even poured himself a cup of beer, not explaining why I shouldn't drink.
"What?" I was confused. He just showed up and all he said was 'don't'?
"It's not worth it." He shrugged his shoulders, then brought the cup to his lips.
"What are you talking about, mate?"
"Is it Y/N?" He placed the cup down on the kitchen counter, leaning on it with one arm while the other rested on his hip. Body now turned towards me, he was ready to have a conversation.
"Is it Y/N?" I repeated the question, avoiding his eyes with a low chuckle that escaped my throat. "Yeah." I sighed, answering. I ran my palm over my chin, rubbing it down to my Adam's apple. Doubt in my movement, doubt to tell him the truth.
"Seeing Hero and her together drives you crazy, doesn't it?" Was he trying to provoke me?! And did he succeed? After all I was balling my hands into fists, but couldn't tell whether it was directed at him or Hero.
Now don't get me wrong, Hero wasn't even the problem. I like him now, he's a cool guy actually, but I was on my way to talk to Y/N when he popped up behind her and managed to steal her attention.
I wanted her attention!
"What do you want Sam?" I gritted my teeth.
"Relax brother. Didn't mean anything bad by it. But I know that alcohol cannot solve problems, and in your case, it even makes them worse. If you want to talk to her, be the gentleman you used to be and go ask her to." He was on the verge of breaking my patience, he knew that himself, which is why he immediately disappeared into the dancing crowd after having answered my question.
But.. maybe he was right. Maybe I should just ask Y/N to talk instead of taking out my anger on others.

I went back out into the garden, repeating the words "can we please talk." Over and over again in my head.

I even muttered it to myself a few times, just to hear how it felt coming from my tongue.
'Hey Y/N-' or you guys? What did I actually say to Hero? Did I ask him if I could talk to Y/N?
My feet drove me closer and closer to the two of them, sitting in garden chairs. The fire flickering in their faces.
'Hey Princess, can I talk to you?' I muttered one last time to myself. Yes, that sounded good. I just had to be able to get it across like that. I made my last few metres and Y/N just didn't seem to notice me as she talked away. Then I stopped in front of them and Hero was the first to notice me, giving me a nod while Y/N had to find my eyes first. And when she did, she just stopped talking.

'Can I talk to you? Can I talk to you? Can I talk to you?' Say it!
"Stand up." I demanded. Hero's eyes widened, so did Y/N's. Definitely not expecting me to say that. I didn't even expect it myself.
"Excuse me?" She spitted.
"Stand up, I want to talk!"
"Hey buddy, wanna hear a joke?"
"Not now Hero-" I kept my gaze on Y/N, her smile only provocatively amusing.

She threw Hero a side eye, smirking like brat. But I had no patience for that any more. I grabbed her wrist and pulled her out of the chair myself. If she wouldn't obey me, damn it, then I had to take matters into my own hands. I dragged her halfway across the garden, through the dancing crowd, towards a quiet spot in the back.
"Tom! damn it stop-" She complained for the third time, made me let go of her wrist immediately as soon as I picked up. We stopped behind the garden house, far enough away to see the people only from a distance, and the music reaching our ears only muffled.

Then I turned to her, not being able to look her in the eyes at first because I knew I would go soft. She made my heart go soft. Something I was indeed not in the mood for right now. Call me stubborn.
"What is up with you tonight?!" She scolded.
"Look-" I started, but hadn't thought about what I wanted to say. Then my eyes wandered down to her wrist and I wondered if I had hurt her. That was the second in which my eyebrows already frowned. I immediately took her wrist in my hand without asking, made her twitch twitch at the sudden contact of my palm.

"Did I hurt you?" I asked, staring up into her eyes. She shook her head. "No.. don't worry." She answered.
I took a closer look anyway though, started tracing kisses up her wrist. Just two, maybe three... hoping she was telling the truth.
Because hurting her was not my goal and if it happened, it wasn't something I had control of.

Damn, now she had softened me up. Her eyes sparkled like the stars under which we stood. She was so beautiful. Even in the cold and with a red nose.

"I apologise for having dragged you away from Hero, but I do not apologise for having hit that guy earlier." I stated, as a matter of fact. "I'd rather have him punched in the face than you insulted by an idiot!"
She raised her eyebrows, outraged by my choice of words. Then she let out a cold breath through her mouth, managed to make it look like smoke as cold as it was.
Her eyes moved to the side as she began to brood. Arms of hers long since returned to hugging her belly. She must have been freezing...

"I understand your point Thomas." Thomas... I was OK with her calling me that, but right now I didn't like the word coming out of her mouth. "But hitting someone was not the solution this time. Especially not since he was at least 5 years younger than you." She explained.

"Please, it was self-defence, he was about to hit Ciara-"
"He wasn't!" She interrupted.
"Yeah he was-"
"No, he was just wanting to go through-" she raised her voice, having narrowed her eyes.
"YES HE WAS!" I yelled, and she closed her eyes. From my point of view, it looked like he wanted to hit her, and I'm not going to apologise for punching him instead.
"Stop!" She sighed. "Stop yelling at me!"

My insides contracted.  My heart was squeezed until it could no longer breathe. That's about what it felt like when she begged me to stop screaming. And she was right, I shouldn't scream, but I couldn't control it either. My anger issues were still something I was trying to work out.
"I can't fight with you right now.." She whispered, lump in her throat and tears stinging to her eyes. But I couldn't fight with her either... in less than 5 weeks we would be moving away, and by then I wanted to be like I used to be. I looked into her eyes for a good quiet minute, showing her that I had no intention of shouting and was calm. Then my eyes moved to the crowd of people, and then up to the stars which were beautifully visible. Always reminded me of the first dates we had. Of most of our holidays, and Y/N herself. They had a similar effect on me, managed to calm me down even when they weren't there.

"Wanna leave?" I asked.
"What.. now?" I nodded, threw her a little smile.
"Yeah. I want to take you somewhere." I told her.
"But I can't drive anymore..." That was no secret, she was definitely already a bit tipsy. But with Ciara as her best friend, I couldn't blame her. This girl could drink...
"Glad I can." I smirked, at least I hadn't drunk anything yet. Thanks to Sam I guess...
She forgot all about the conflict we were having as her lips started to curl into that sweet innocent smile of hers.
"Okay."

~Tom should have given Y/N his jacket. Period.~
