Y/N's pov~
We had landed in Cape Town and were standing at the luggage carousel, accompanied by Maeve and Wayne, after the entire team had flown in together.
"Oh, there's mine, there's mine!" Wayne exclaimed eagerly as his red Cars suitcase rolled along the conveyor belt, his feet clad in his comfortable Cars Crocs that he wore on every occasion. Maeve and I shared a sheepish laugh, but once we had all collected our luggage, we headed outside. The sun was setting, and despite the long flight, we were all wide awake instead of accepting that it was evening.
"Do you know how long it will take to get to the hotel?" Maeve asked, prone to feeling queasy on long bus rides. Wayne began to speculate on an estimated time when the vibration of my phone caught my attention for the first time since landing. I received a call, and I was puzzled to read Harry's name on the screen.
"Excuse me for a moment," I said to the two of them, distancing myself for a brief moment to answer the call. Why Harry was calling me instead of Ciara? I had no idea, but a gnawing feeling in my stomach.
"Hey, what's up, redhead?" I teased, not expecting the concern in his voice with which he answered.
"Oh my God, Y/N! Please tell me you're with Tom!" he pleaded, furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. Sweat spread across my palms, a cold shower running down my spine."Not exactly, what's going on?" I had no idea what was happening, especially since Tom hadn't been in contact with me, having asked me not to contact him either.
"Are you messing with me? Didn't you get a call?" He sounded genuinely upset, unable to decide if I was just joking with him or feigning ignorance. But chills spawned on my arms when I suddenly heard Nikki's voice in the background. "Is she with him?" I thought I heard, her words just as concerned as Harry's, sounding like she's been crying.
"Harry, what call? What's going on?" My voice became more serious, more concerned. Something seemed to be seriously wrong with Tom, and Harry wasn't forthcoming with the details, or at least not quickly enough for my patience.
"He was beaten up and arrested. It's all over the news," he explained, but how was I supposed to know that if I had been in the air for 16 hours straight, and hadn't heard from my husband in weeks.
I froze in place, my phone now loosely held in my trembling hand, tears rolling down my cheeks like cold drops of ice, my gaze fixed on nothing but the palm tree in the distance.
"Y/N, you have to go to him," he pleaded. Knowing they were all too far away and the only hope was me in that moment.
"I'm already in Cape Town," I murmured, at least able to reassure him about the long flight time I had covered. But my mind still couldn't comprehend the whole situation.
"Oh for God's sake! thank you," he sighed in relief, repeating himself for the Holland family who were listening in on his end.
"I'll send you the address of the police station. Please give us updates as soon as you have any." And they could count on me 100% to take care of him.
I received the address shortly after and sprinted with my suitcase to the nearest taxi after informing Wayne and Maeve. But suddenly, a strong hand held me back and turned me around 180 degrees. Grip firm, too tight to be from some stranger.
"Hey, what's going on?" Deep blond hair, dark eyes, a mole under his eye. Clark seemed to have noticed the tears that had fallen as I passed by him.
"Tom was beaten up, I need to get to him somehow," I explained without thinking. Coming up with excuses didn't even cross my mind and would probably have taken even longer.
