Ever since Tom's therapist prescribed him the new pills, which weren't supposed to be as strong as the ones he was currently taking, he was acting kinda... off?
Don't get me wrong, I was super proud of him for getting to the stage where he didn't need such strong pills anymore when even his therapist said that, but he was acting so strange.

He was constantly spacing out, and at night he woke up bathed in his own sweat.
I was afraid his nightmares were returning, but he promised they weren't.
This week alone he already had to shower twice at nights all because he had sweated so much that he couldn't go back to sleep without having taken a shower first, but then again, when the morning came, he was a different guy. He had taken us to a hockey game and almost got into a fight with someone there because he had blocked Parker's view. It was quite unnecessary but I could only notice how aggressive Tom became just because of little things like this.
Today he was in quite a good mood again, having made breakfast, but was about to throw the knife into the wall when he cut his finger while cutting the apple into tiny pieces for Parker.

Now it was 8 o'clock in the evening and Parker had taken an extra long nap to stay awake until new year's, even though I doubted that it would work, he didn't let himself be talked into anything. This stubborn little kid of mine...

But there was one thing I hadn't told Tom about tonight. It was a mask party, for which I had ordered extra venetian masks.

Mine was therefore elegant, silver, with little diamonds around the edges of the eyes. It went just to the tip of my nose, like Tom's did, and only covered the part around our eyes. Meanwhile, Tom had a matte black mask which was quite simple, and looked more like a super hero's with a pointed nose. But he should be used to that, after playing spiderman for several years. For Parker I had ordered a shiny dark blue child's mask which definitely couldn't cause too much trouble. It only had to be tied tightly and should then fit, but I was still afraid that he wouldn't wear it for long.
Maybe it would scratch or block his view. I don't know.

I walked down the stairs in my tight-fitting dark white dress, hiding the three masks behind my back on my way to my two boys who were waiting for me downstairs as usual.

Now dark white might sounded strange, but what I meant was that it wasn't a shiny wedding dress but rather a mix of silver and white which matched my mask perfectly.

For the occasion, I even wore gloves that went just to my elbows, and that was only because I thought it matched the outfit with the mask.

Definitely a lot Tom had never seen me in before, so I was a little more excited than usual when I got downstairs and felt his eyes drilling holes in my dress.

He licked his lips, hands balling into fists in both of his suit pockets of the pants as he roamed his eyes up and down my body.
"You look like a princess mommy!" Parker spoke up and made Tom blush. It was hard for him to admit that when he was speechless, and hearing the truth from Parker made him nod in agreement right away. He held out his hand and helped me with the last step while my other hand still kept the masks well hidden behind my back.
"Thank you Parks! But take a look at you in your elegant suit. Did Daddy pick it out for you?"

I asked, I already knew the suit, but I was still mesmerised about how much it suited Parker. He looked just like a little Tom and I meant that. Looking at Tom's childhood pictures when he was Parker's age, I kept noticing the resemblance between the two. It was incredible. The brown hair, small lips, skinny arms, and shaggy hair.
That was the only difference.
Parker's hair was a little longer than Tom's, but that was because I loved Parker's curls so much. He definitely inherited the curls from Tom. But Tom's hair had grown quite long by now and was already covering his ears. I liked the way he looked, I always did, but I know his mum is not a fan of his hairstyle at the moment. At least that's what it sounded like when she asked him when he was going to the hairdresser again, and I was sure she didn't mean anything bad by it, it just didn't sound very nice either.
