I was having made Tom a cup of tea, of course stirring in his antidepressants with a cube of sugar afterwards. He needed every source of energy, especially in winter.
Parker was sitting at the dining table with a bowl of yoghurt and a mashed banana in front of him. The bowl was half empty, but the spoon I had given him was unused. That was because Parker ate with his bare hands, and even though I wasn't a fan of the mess he made, I let him have his fun. Was inwardly counting the drops in Tom's tea anyway.
The fact that he was still sleeping showed how much he was improving, whereas a few months ago he couldn't even close one eye.
That relieved me a lot, maybe because I was glad he was getting better, but I think in the back of my head I knew I was glad, because it was easier for me to leave, knowing that he had himself under control.
"Can I have a water?" Parker asked, the show on the ipad running in the background, making him giggle every few minutes. "Please!" He added. Having every respect that Tom and I tried to teach him. And that was really not difficult for him.
"Of course baby." I filled a glass with cold water from the fridge and put it down for him. Seeing how dirty his hands and mouth were however, I quickly took a small napkin and cleaned his hands along with his face before he drank.
"Thank you mommy!" He said, gulping down the last drop.
"You're welcome sweetface." Two minutes later I heard the bedroom door from upstairs and knew Tom was awake too. The tea had cooled a little but was still warm, perfect for him to drink. He came strolling down the stairs in just a pair of pyjama bottoms. His upper body exposed, lazy hands scraping over his abs. He was still quite thin, not eating as much as he should, and his bones were sticking out more than they had three years ago, but he was improving and I was incredibly proud.
Didn't even care about his looks one bit, but only his mental health. Praying that he would soon have more strength again.
"Good morning sleepyhead." I smiled, already grabbing his tea from the countertop. "Slept well?"
"Mhm." He muttered in a grumble. I extended the tea which he accepted with thanks. "Better than ever." He took a big gulp, then grabbed my waist, pulled me closer and planted a kiss on my lips. His son being the next in line to receive a kiss on the hairline. Smile wide on his lips, hugging his father back as he paid attention to him.
"Morning dadday."
Tom chuckled, loving his sons voice more than anything.
"Morning buddy." He replied."Go wash your hands and get changed sweetface." I told Parker, wanting to visit Nikki later. He carefully balanced the glass of water into the kitchen and handed it up for me to put down in the sink before scurrying into his room to change. He couldn't really dress himself yet, but he would find some socks eventually.
"You know." Tom smirked, striking in slow steps towards me. "Kinda surprised you're able to walk." He ran his eyes down my body, only stopping in front of me when he had me trapped between the kitchen counter and himself.
"Yeah well, also took me a good 15 minutes to get down the stairs." I replied. He kept a wry smile on his lips, eyes narrowed, meanwhile just staring into those of mine.
My hands were gripping onto the edge of the kitchen counter, no more space left between our bodies. He still smelled slightly like his shampoo, unlike mine, even after the events of yesterday and a deep, long, sleep.
"The guys wanted to see me tomorrow. Go to a pub or something. Is that all right?" He casually asked, needing my permission. Not quite literally, of course. I would never forbid Tom anything, but he always felt like asking for it, and that showed trust.
"Sure. The guys?" I questioned. Usually boys meant Harrison, Hero, maybe Jack or other friends, but we had only seen them yesterday. So I was a little confused. Tom hated being around people.
