Tom's pov~

I was late, so very late. Not only had I lost my car keys, but I had also underestimated the traffic on the way to the airport. The enormous bouquet filled with peonies and white tulips seemed far less magnificent than when I picked it up, after navigating through the hectic twists and turns of the drive.
Y/N should have landed 20 minutes ago, and just now I found a parking spot with Parker in the back seat. I scooped him onto my shoulders as I sprinted past all the gates to where Y/N was supposed to come out, but when I arrived, it was empty.

The flight number was still displayed, so I was definitely at the right gate, and there was no delay. She must have already left or was looking for me.
"Damn it," I muttered angrily under my breath, thankfully low enough that Parker didn't hear it.
"Where's Mummay?" he asked, looking around in confusion. A crowd of people hurried past us, but no one paused at the flights gate. I quickly retrieved my phone from my pocket, pulling Parker out of the airport to find some peace. Inside, there was an overwhelming murmur that made it difficult to follow even my own thoughts.

"Hey, baby," she answered the phone, her tone not nearly as angry as I had anticipated. Instead, she exuded a calmness that almost managed to soothe me as well.

"Jesus fuck, where are you? I'm late, and at your—" I was at my wit's end, my voice frantic and racing so fast, I couldn't even follow myself after the first question, but at least Y/N did. She interrupted me immediately.
"What do you mean, where am I? Your brothers picked me up. Didn't you guys coordinate this?" Of course... I didn't want to believe her words, but it was so typical, I didn't doubt the truth for a second.

"No. No, we didn't," I replied, the blood rushing to my head. My hand sweated while holding Parker's, almost crushing his delicate bones until he winced and pulled away.

"I think we're heading to Sam's house. They've planned some surprise for me, but I thought you were the surprise waiting for us." She sounded excited, at first, until a hint of disappointment crept in as she talked about me.
The air was fresh, breezy as it hit my face and blew my curls away from my eyes, yet it felt thick as I swallowed it down my throat.

I was already back in the car 2 minutes later, Parker buckled up, and Sam's house set in my GPS.
"Don't worry, I'll be there," I had said before having hung up.

The rush of adrenaline coursing through my body, combined with the anger and tension held in my muscles, led me to drive above the speed limit at every street. But what can I say? I was an excellent driver... and had a guardian angel watching over me during that ride.

We were just pulling into Sam's driveway when, oddly enough, he arrived too. It was further confirmation that I had probably driven way too fast.

He pulled up in front of the garage, the front yard still damp from the previous rain, and the fence granting us enough privacy that I didn't need to worry about paparazzi. I lifted Parker out of the car, the bouquet now irrelevant to me. I'd get her a newer, more beautiful one later. But for now, I made my way from the car where Paddy first emerged from the backseat with Y/N, followed by Sam in the passenger seat, and lastly, no one other than Harry himself driving. Who else could I have expected? None of the three spared me a glance as I strode heavily toward them, Parker leaving my hand in less than 5 seconds and running into his mother's arms.

"Care to involve me in your plans next time?!" I threw my hands up in anger as all four heads turned towards me. Y/N included, who watched while she knelt in front of Parker.
My brothers couldn't have looked more like a massive shield waiting to be pulled aside, ready to strike with a sharp sword. "You knew I was going to pick her up," I spat at Harry, quickly grabbing him by the collar as he stumbled backward.
