Logan couldn't believe the state of downtown. It was an absolute mess. Shattered glass was everywhere, crunching underneath his sneakers with every step. It was all over the road and sidewalks, not a single speck of ground uncovered. Cars were also dented and windows broken in. It was complete anarchy and JJ Maybank had been behind all of it.
He couldn't even begin to blame him though. Did he agree with his way of crashing out? Not exactly. But he had literally found out that his family wasn't actually his family. Then, his sister had gone missing for a day. After that, his dad, who wasn't actually his dad, had sold him and his sister out– which cost them their shop, their house, and any chance at a relationship with him.
To say that the past twenty-four hours had been easy for JJ would be the biggest lie in the entire freaking universe. Talk about the shittiest past few days. And who even knew what would lie in store for him considering what he'd done. Whatever it was, it'd be bad. That's all Logan knew.
A few more moments passed before he looked up. Dark eyes locking onto Sarah, his brow snapped together. She looked exhausted, and she probably was, but something was different in the way she walked. In the way she carried herself. She kind of looked like she wanted to pass out or throw up. If she was sick, he was gonna lose it. They didn't have time for the flu and quite frankly, he didn't want to get sick either.
"Sare, you okay?" He asked, causing John B to glance back at her.
Sarah flinched, gaze shooting up to her brother. "Hmm?"
"He asked if you were okay." John B said slowly.
"Yeah. I'm...uh, I'm...I'm...I have to...You know, I'll be right back."
Logan's face gradually contorted as she flew inside the pharmacy, probably having to use the bathroom. They'd been up for hours so he didn't necessarily question it. He did, however, feel like she wasn't telling him everything. She just seemed off and he didn't know how to explain it.
"Well, this is a shitshow." Logan remarked, turning in a full circle to take in the wreckage.
"And to think, Kori hasn't even seen it yet." Kiara mumbled, bringing her hands onto her hips.
John B just kicked a few shards of glass, hands shoved into his pockets. "Well, at least she didn't crash out like this."
"Heaven help us when that day comes."
Logan glanced at Kie, only causing her eyes to widen.
"What?" She hissed.
"Nothing. I just–" He let out a breath. "This sucks."
"Yeah. I mean, their dad comes back and next thing you know, sells the house right out from under them to the kooks." John B agreed. "Luke literally makes my dad look like the father of the century."
"Is it too soon to say 'same?'" Logan quipped, letting out a scoff next. "I mean, it'd be one thing if neither of them were his kids, but..."
As he trailed off, Kie shoulder's halfheartedly raised. "Kori's still his daughter."
"And the son of a bitch still sold her out. Ridiculous." John B murmured, head shaking.
"Wait." Kiara ordered, dark eyes widening as realization washed over her. "We're so stupid. I know where JJ went– Goat Island."
Logan's lips parted at the revelation. "Shit, you're right. He's gotta be there."
"Genius, Kie. You're a genius." John B remarked.
