〰⋅〰⋅〰Logan's fingers were restlessly drumming against the countertop. They'd stayed in motion practically the whole morning. He couldn't really help the nerves coursing through his body though. He and Kiara had stayed back while the others had gone on to Charleston. He wasn't anxious about not going on the road trip, but more so that he had no idea where Kori was. Or JJ.
The two siblings had seemingly vanished off the face of the planet.
"Anything?" He inquired, keeping his eyes on her.
Kie sighed, lifting her gaze up from her phone. "Nothing. Not a single text back."
Logan shook his head. "Something's up."
"I know."
"Kori and JJ don't 'run errands.'"
"I know."
Unable to do anything else, he let out a groan. "What if something happened?"
At that, Kie's head tilted at him. "Okay, stop. You're gonna drive yourself insane if you keep sitting here, worrying about her. I'm sure they're fine." She set a comforting hand on his shoulder just as a thought popped into her head. "Have you checked your phone? Kori is better at responding."
"No, not since everyone left." He admitted, sliding off the counter he'd been sitting on. "That's a good idea though."
"Is it charging?" Kie questioned.
"Yeah. I'll be right back." Logan expressed, starting down the dock. He quickly reached the back door, stepping through the threshold to make his way over to his phone. It was plugged in by the couch, resting on the arm of it.
As he picked it up, he opened his text messages. Granted, he didn't have any new ones, but maybe they weren't sending or–
They had definitely sent.
LOGAN: hey, how are things going?
LOGAN: okay, so I know you aren't running errands
LOGAN: come on, kj. just let me know if you're okay
LOGAN: please. i'm worried about you
LOGAN: kori
"Come on, Kor." Logan murmured, unplugging his phone to slip it into his back pocket. It was no use. If Kori was going to respond, she would've done it by now. He probably wouldn't be hearing from her again until tonight. He only hoped that her and JJ were okay– that they were safe.
Using his hand, he scratched the back of his head. He was quite literally sidelined right now. He couldn't do anything and he hated it. He just shook his head, that thought settling in his mind as he walked back out the way he'd come and jotted down the steps. It wasn't until he'd reached the start of the dock that he lifted his head.
And when he did, a bout of anger washed over him.
Logan did not waste a breath. Hatred fueled him as he aggressively walked down the dock, only one destination in mind. Neither of them had seen him, but he didn't care. Whatever conversation they were so wrapped up in would quickly come to an end.
"You really did me wrong, Kie."
Before she could respond, Logan reached his brother. "Get the hell away from her." He demanded, harshly whirling him around by his shoulder.
Rafe seemed startled by his touch– by the power behind it.
"What is this, huh?!" He exclaimed, quickly turning to Kie. "Are you okay?"
