I sighed heavily as I leaned against the wall, "Last one standing, huh?"

I watched as Trish and Michael made their way towards the basketball courts and smiled. It made for an interesting sight that really had me re-evaluating things. If someone had told me those two would be, well whatever they were, about a month ago, I would have branded them crazy. But it was funny what a broken heart would do.

Turning my attention to the tracks I watched as the last of the runners prepped for the final race. I was aware of the fact the most of the spectators were more interested in their own business than what was happening on the fields, but I couldn't blame them. Most of the star athletes had either finished their races or run off field and vanished into the parking lot.

"I think she went after Mia Angel..."

My ears perked as I overheard the gossip of a few girls close by. They weren't the only ones speculating about what had happened to Amy, but I recognised one of them from the race as Amy cut her off to exit the tracks and my curiosity got the better of me.

"...obviously has to do with that, right?" she gossiped low while the other girls leaned in close.

I shook my head as I realized how quickly Amy's actions were already causing a stir in the school body. It always amazed and scared me how it worked, rumours. They indeed were scary things. I wondered though if these girls knew the details of what would really happened between the two in the parking lot, or would they make up their own minds of what would happen?

"What's got you looking all troubled?" a voice chirped curiously, distracting me from the gossiping girls on the bleachers.

Looking to my left I watched as my sister headed in from the direction of the parking lot, her eyebrow raised curiously as she scanned my face. It was refreshing to see that today she had chosen to dress more casually than like she usually did as the school's doctor. It was also very comforting. I smiled as I greeted her.

Ruby Stanely narrowed her eyes at me as she clicked her tongue and leaned in close to inspect my face.

"Ho~ and a solemn tone...? I take it that wasn't a mistake when I saw Amy dragging Mia through the parking lot and into her car?" she asked directly.

I raised my eyebrow in mild surprise, "She did?"

I hadn't expected Amy to be that forceful, but I guess with all the people looking for her, she was pressed for options. Straightening up Ruby moved next to me, her eyes never leaving my face.

"I take it she finally let the cat out the bag," she stated her words measured as she watched me carefully, "how you holding up?"

"I'll live," I responded, meeting her gaze briefly as I grinned.

Punching me lightly on the shoulder, Ruby laughed softly, her eyes softening as she nodded her head.

"I'm sure you will little brother, I'm sure you will." She smiled knowingly.

Looking out to the tracks she sighed heavily as something caught her eye. Following her gaze I saw Coach Wicker yelling out to a few runners at the starting line. The athletes looked back at her distressed, even the competing side cringed back as they watched on.
