Anyhoo~ Enjoy!]

The door behind me burst open as students began spilling out from class. Looking up from my locker I watched as Randy slowly exited Mr. Ford’s history class, a curious glare match between them tensing the air and pushing other students quicker out their way.

“Randy, let’s go!” Gary called out to his friend tapping his foot impatiently as he moved to join Kane and Michael in the hallway.

“I swear he has something against me-” his voice faded in the background as I locked eyes with Michael who had been scanning the faces of the girls standing next to me. I knew which face he sought after and grinned evilly as I watched him quickly look away from me. My smile softened as Kane turned curiously to me, his eyebrows raised in question.

Kane mumbled something low to his friends and began heading back my way. I noticed Michael sneaking a glance to me, a strange look on his face I couldn’t decipher, before him and his friends moved further down the Hallway.

“Hey Trish,” Kane smirked, throwing his arm around my shoulders as he stepped in line with me.

“What do you want Kane?” I asked evenly as I shrugged his arm of my shoulders and continued walking in the direction of my next class.

“Whoa- I thought we were past the whole post-dump feels?” he joked bumping my shoulder with his own as we climbed the stairs to the second floor. Glancing at him curiously, I raised my eyebrow in enquiry,

“You still harbouring feelings for me?” I asked. Kane laughed bitterly as he gripped tighter onto his rucksack.

“You wish- beside, it’s not like we were anything other than bed pals, right?”

I noticed his sidelong glance as he waited for my answer. Recalling the two months I had attempted a relationship with Kane, I tried to find a different answer to the one that had hurt him so much the last time I had said it. But no matter how much I tried, I couldn’t do it. So instead I shook my head as I looked forward, trying to ignore the crease that wrinkled his forehead and dampened his smile. Kane wasn’t a fool, he knew why we hadn’t worked and to some extent that irritated me more than I’d ever admit. I couldn’t be sure when or how he had begun noticing how I treated Amy so differently as opposed to everybody else. But I could still remember his reaction when his jealousy had gotten the better of him. But who could blame him, even I knew my actions were fairly obvious to anyone who bothered to look longer than five minutes.

The warmth and patience I allowed Amy, despite the endless frustration and hurt she kept dishing my way, was extremely different to the cold and indifferent attitude I approached everyone else with. The only exceptions I gave were with those that distracted me from my weary heart and even then it was only a limited amount of interest, something Kane had been sure to express to me on the day he had given me his ridiculous ultimatum.

Looking to him now, I still wondered if that ultimatum had just been an excuse he had given to walk away from the strange relationship we had. The choice of either taking him seriously or staying Amy’s best friend had been a pretty straightforward decision, one he should have known my answer to and yet he had still used it.

Kane sighed heavily as he rubbed his neck glancing guiltily to me. He blushed slightly as he met my eyes that fixed on his face curiously.

“What?” I asked instantly suspicious, the unusual look on his face totally out of place. Slowing to a stop, he moved closer to me, his voice low.
