Curiosity burned deep in my gut as I watched Mia Angel cling pathetically to the red folder that Duke had handed to her. The words became muffled again but it didn’t matter anymore, I’d heard the important stuff.
A rattling sound echoed to my left followed by a soft whining voice.
“Laura come on, let’s go!”
Ignoring the girl who tugged irritably at my side I tried to inch closer to hear more of what the two in the empty classroom were saying. Unfortunately it seemed that Mia had taken to just staring stupidly out the window, blushing like some idiot in love. The thought had my stomach turning as I pictured her happy in anyway. It had always irked me how the pretty little doll could easily get whatever she wanted by just...being. It was so unfair.
Passing by this classroom as Duke had entered it had been a blessing in disguise. Who would have thought I’d get such precious information by simply leaning in for a little peek on miss perfect?
“The guys are probably done with practice by now.” Meg moaned throwing her hands up into the air in exasperation as her face twisted into ugly irritation.
“Shut it, will you.” I ground out turning from the classroom.
Startled by my movement Meg dropped her bag in surprise, the sound of the crash echoing through the hallway and into the empty classroom.
“Shit.”
Eyes round I turned to see Duke’s head raised and turned in our direction as Mia still gazed stupidly out the window, too distracted to notice anything else. Grabbing Meg’s arm I tugged it in the opposite direction and hurried down the hallway.
As I moved I thought on the information I had just learned and a slow smile spread across my lips as I tried to think how I could best use it to my advantage. Thinking on all the times Amy had gotten between me and Mia’s business I began to wonder, how protective would Mason be of a deceiving Angel?
