“Are you even allowed to do that?”
Daisy turned from the door in shock. She scanned the hallway for barely a second before she found me leaning against the wall behind her. When she saw me her eyes narrowed as she breathed in a sigh of relief.
“Jeez Ruby- you almost gave me a heart attack!” she exclaimed irritably.
I tilted my head to the side curiously examining her face, “Aren’t you jumpy… if you’re going to feel so guilty about it, why not just watch the kids?”
Daisy scoffed at that as she placed her hand on her hip defiantly, “I’m a not that perv’s on-call babysitter! Besides, it shouldn’t be my problem that he forgot about the meeting this afternoon.” She declared angrily, flicking her hair to the side as she turned to continue down the hallway.
Pushing off the wall I fell into step with her. She glanced sideways at me, her brow furrowing curiously.
“Why are you here? Did you get called for the meeting too?” she asked.
“Julie called and said there was an emergency. I was in the neighborhood so I thought I’d pop by.” I replied, shrugging my shoulders nonchalantly. Daisy rolled her eyes as she laughed incredulously.
“Puh-lease~ Wicker calls and you come running, you guys are nauseating.” She sneered jealously. I snorted defensively as I looked suspiciously her way.
“Trouble in paradise…?” I asked curiously, trying to recall her boyfriend’s name, but coming up blank. Daisy scowled irritably.
“James asked me to marry him…” she responded less than enthused. My eyes rounded in surprise and I scratched my head in confusion.
“That’s a good thing… right!?”
Daisy laughed derisively, “Yeah right- the scumbag only did it as an apology for sleeping with one of his co-workers!”
“Ouch,” I responded sympathetically. Patting her shoulder comfortingly I watched as her expression turned pained while she slowed down.
“That sounds about right, ‘ouch’…” she mumbled quietly, her eyes glistening slightly. Shaking her head of the painful thoughts her expression turned irritable once again, “as if that’s not enough, now I have to deal with the constant calls from one of the cheerleader’s moms and boy can that woman complain!”
“What are they complaining about now, uniform skirts too short?” I joked teasingly. Daisy smiled cheerfully as she looked to me endearingly.
“No- it should be, but no- apparently a few of them got into some serious trouble getting two of them kicked off the team and the others stuck with detention for the rest of the year. Of course they claim to be innocent and one even got her mother involved to fight against it.”
I whistled in surprise, “Wow, sounds hectic- I know how those women can be. I remember one of them trying to get me unlicensed because I provided her daughter with ‘unnecessary medication’,” I shook my head at the amusing memory, “flat out refused to believe her daughter was sexually active.”
Daisy burst out laughing, “Ha~ I remember that, you nearly quit here!”
I smiled as the memory turned to one of Julie seducing me in the girl’s locker room, “Yeah… if it wasn’t for Jules, I would have walked.” I giggled slightly as I remember how very unable I was to walk after Julie had been done with me.
