“I love you Mia Angel…”
My heart raced as I tried to keep my eyes focused and my back straight but it wasn’t long before the rivers of sweat in my palms became too unbearable and the tick in my temple threatened to turn into a full blown seizure.
“Oh wow, that was… try again,” a voice echoed behind me, freezing me in place. Eyes wide and heart now beating ten times faster I turned to see Cassidy leaning against my bedroom door staring at me, a smirk on her face as she watched me. Her gaming headgear still hung around her neck and I guessed she was on break from some tournament.
“What the hell Cass, you scared me!” I ground out irritably, turning away from the mirror, my face flushing as I moved.
Grinning apologetically Cassidy gestured for me to go back, “Sorry, but don’t mind me… go on.”
“What?” I asked my eyes widening as I looked to her. She looked back expectantly.
“I want to see what else you have to say.” She stated clearly.
I scoffed as I shook my head in disbelief, “Don’t you have some game to get to?” I asked as I avoided looking in her direction.
“And miss this?” she responded as she raised her legs onto the bed and made herself comfortable, “No friggin’ way!”
I grit my teeth as I realized she really wasn’t going anywhere now.
“Cass…” I pleaded, unable to handle the bubbling curiosity that leaked from her face as she scanned me.
“Amy…” Cassidy echoed back, fighting back a grin as she watched me.
“If I ask you to pretend you heard nothing and leave, would you do it?” I asked, already sighing in defeat as I made my way to the dresser on my right and leaned against the edge. Inching closer to the edge of the bed Cassidy laughed lightly as she leaned forward eagerly.
“What do you think?”
I looked away defiantly sighing heavily, trying to think of different ways to get out of talking to her. Cassidy tilted her head, her expression softening as she did so.
“So… you’re actually going to go through with the whole confessing thing? Or was that just some weird daydream stuff I walked in on?” she asked after a while.
I could feel as my face began to burn, the thought of me confessing to Mia returning and the debilitating fear with it. Already my palms began sweating and as much as I tried to hide the fact that breathing had somehow become some foreign activity I’d forgotten to train for, I could tell that Cassidy was already well aware of that and the rapid rise and fall of my chest as my heart rate increased.
There was a slight look of worry that crossed Cassidy’s face as she scanned me from head to toe.
“Okay…so, not a daydream- are you okay?”
Cassidy made to move from the bed but I raised my hand to stop her as I clutched my chest and slowly began to compose myself as I gestured to her that I was fine.
“I’m okay, it’s just… every time I think about- it’s a bit daunting thinking about saying anything, you know.”
Watching me carefully Cassidy raised an eyebrow,
