[>_< This one is a bit long, soo~ sorry, wanted to get some boring details out the way (mostly for my peace of mind =_=) but please read on and comment! I'd love to hear what you have to say to  make this a better story!!]

One year, three months, two weeks, three days and four hours. That was how long Mia Angel had dominated my world and all it had taken was a simple smile and a bottle of water. But maybe ‘simple’ wasn’t quite right in describing that smile. It was the kind that captured your heart, one that reached the eyes and expressed so much emotion in the span of just a few seconds.

It had been the first year of high school. The clicks were in their baby phases and the ‘IT’ crowd was already being drawn out. All I had been interested in was track and trying not to get sucked into the narrow-minded way of categorizing people into cliché groups that were supposed to define them, no matter how hard Trish tried to push me.

I had come to Tailor High because of Trish, but that was as far as she was ever going to get me to follow her schemes, I loved the girl, but she could rub the wrong nerve sometimes. The fact that the school had a great track team and an amazing sports field had been a bonus. A bonus that made Trish’s efforts into making me part of the ‘cool kids’ almost bearable.

I had always loved running. It was my escape and the only thing I shared with my dad. We weren’t related by blood, but he was the only one I would ever call that. He had been a marathon runner before settling down with my mom and me. He had shown me how relaxing a good run could be and that you didn’t just have to be running away from something, but towards something as well.

Once I had started I never stopped and it turned out I was a natural. I had been offered many scholarships for high schools, but I never really wanted to make running into a career. Somehow that felt like I would be betraying the freedom it gave me. So I won the medals and prizes, but I never forgot why I ran. Needless to say I got a reputation and was considered a star.

I hated every minute of it. So I chose to go to a high school of my own choice and even though I joined the track team, I had decided I would rather let others shine. I ran in my own time and hardly ever with the others.

I just wanted my high school life to be as quiet and uncluttered as possible. I never expected to find love. But I did.

I had been running after all club activities were done. The sun was hot, but I had just endured Trish’s attempts at getting me to be civil with what would be the four bitchiest girls in school. I needed the run. I had run the field five times before the heat had started to do its work on me and I realized I had not brought any water with me.

I still don’t remember how I had landed on the ground, or how long I had been there. All I can remember is opening my eyes and seeing the brightest blue eyes I had ever seen. Mia had been crouching near me, just watching me. Without saying anything, I could tell how worried she was by the look in her eyes as she watched me. She was startled to see me wake up and fell onto her backside. Even dehydrated I couldn’t help but smile at that adorable reaction. She quickly recovered and the next thing I knew it there was a bottle of water being shoved in my face. She was smiling shyly as she handed it to me, concern still laced in her eyes.

I watched her curiously and took the water slowly, our hands barely touching. I was still on the floor, my head turned, transfixed with this angel that had appeared out of nowhere and suddenly there was a shout followed by a name and the angel got up and began stumbling away, one last look of concern on her face before she left my line of sight.

I had laid there for a few moments longer before sitting up slowly and drinking some water. I couldn’t see anyone else on the field, but that didn’t matter. Her image had already been branded into my mind and her name was already repeating like a mantra in my head,
