Are we really on chapter 43 already?

George POV.Clay was cuddling into me with his arms wrapped snugly around my waist. He was keeping me distracted with McDonalds and movies. The movie was good, I had insisted on watching one of his movies which made him chuckle, but he agreed regardless.
It was a nice film. It wasn’t overly sexual like Accelerate had been, and it wasn’t overly sad like Flowers From 1970 had been. The movie was just a feel good one which calmed me down and helped me forget about everything bad that had happened in the past few hours. I allowed myself to just relax against my boyfriend.
And it did feel weird, seeing how successful Clay was while watching his movies while I had become jobless a few mere hours ago. The fact that somehow my pathetic, jobless self was dating his rich popular self still awed me. I loved him so much and I knew that he was out of my league but that didn’t matter for now.
Honestly it felt as though I could lay here with him forever, wrapped up in warm blankets and cuddling with my boyfriend in his hotel room. Where I wouldn’t have to worry about all this stress of Clay’s ex, and of losing my job, and that expensive emerald necklace he gave me which I fear could be stolen, in here all that mattered was myself and the blond that was holding me.
We were just about at the climax of the movie, when my phone suddenly rang. I let out a small sigh as the blond paused the movie before looking over at me to see what I would do. Part of me considered just letting it ring, not being in the mood to talk to anyone at the moment, but after considering it I changed my mind.
Wilbur had already found out about me losing my job, despite me not knowing how since neither I nor Clay had told him, and he called to comfort me about it. Sapnap, Karl, Bad, Skeppy, and a handful of Clay’s other friends who also knew me had messaged to say that they were sorry about what had happened too. So I wasn’t really sure who could be calling me.
I looked at the caller ID on my phone and saw the name as someone who hadn’t called me in ages, and I froze for a solid five seconds before being able to properly react. Clay seemed as though he was about to take the phone off of me so he could see why I wasn’t moving, but before he could I pressed answer and held it up to my ear.
“Hello?” I questioned into the phone. I knew who was calling me but I was feeling cautious, seeing as I had not talked to these people in a while.
“George?” the voice on the other end of the line replied in a somewhat shrill voice. “Hey!”“Hi.” I responded awkwardly. “How… uh can I help you?” I had not talked to this girl for several years and so I was confused as to why she would contact me out of the blue.
“Hey George!” She repeated, and I could tell from her tone of voice that she was practically beaming on the other end of the call. “How is my favourite brother doing?”“Sarah, hey. I didn’t realise that you had my number.” Was all I responded with, after all I had never given my sister my phone number, mainly because I never have any interactions with her since the type of lives we live are entirely different.
“Oh I asked Mum and Dad for your phone number.” She responded. “So how are you?”I let out a small sigh which she couldn’t hear from her end of the call. My sister, Sarah Davidson, was someone who everyone considered to be my exact opposite. Or at least everyone who knew she existed. Both her and I had minimal contact with our parents, and even less contact with one another.
She was a socialite, going against my parents' generally sheltered from media lifestyle. Both of us had been raised without too much technology. No movies or tv shows, no video games, no music, no pop culture, etc. Then Sarah went off to university and she got introduced to all of her friends who all did use technology, and watched movies, and listened to popular music.
So pretty soon after she went to university she stopped following my parents' ways of life. They had given her a phone when she went off to university, and so she messaged them one day writing about how they were doing all of these fun things. I was also given a phone when I went off to learn to be a bartender, but I was different to how she was.
I was much more antisocial and so I was fine, for the most part, with the way that my parents raised me. While she moved on to get an iphone and go to the movies every weekend, I liked what my parents had done with me getting to sit home alone and read a book without the hassle of social media.
Nothing really happened to cause the two of us to hate each other, just the way we grew up caused us to grow apart and have less contact with one another. “I’ve been busy.” I answered her, not wanting to do a huge explanation about how I was just fired a few hours earlier. “Why are you calling?”
“Oh I was just wondering if you wanted to come visit, since we haven’t seen one another in a while.” She suggested. “I’m staying with our parents for the week and it’s only an hour's drive away. If you can get time off work of course.”
The thought of being able to see my family was somewhat of a shock for me, since none of us had been around each other in a while, but I responded. “I could see. I have a lot going on in my life right now, but if I have the time I guess I could come and stay with you guys.” As I talked into the phone I could tell Clay was giving me a questioning look.
“That’ll be great, just message us if you decide to.” She said, before seeming to remember something. “Oh, and if you wanted to, you could bring someone else with you to stay. Like a friend or whatever.” She added on, and I just responded with a ‘sure’, as I knew who exactly she was talking about.
Obviously since we hadn’t hung out much in recent years I didn’t know what kind of stuff she was into online, if she liked a certain TV show, or movie, or a certain singer, or whatever. But it seemed clear that she was emplying Clay, otherwise she’d have no reason to so ominously suggest it.
“I’ll think about it,” I responded before we exchanged ‘goodbyes’. I finally managed to hang up after a decent half minute of her saying goodbye and reminding me of everything that she had said. The moment that I was finished talking with her I let out an exhausted sigh while setting down my phone.
After taking a moment, I moved to lean back against Clay who had just been sitting and listening to my side of the conversation the entire time. “What was that about?” He asked me as I cuddled up against him.
“My sister wants me to go visit her in the next week or so.” I answered.“And are you going to go see her and your family?” Clay questioned. “Or are you going to say no and stay here?”
“I haven’t decided yet.” I admitted. “But maybe a trip would be nice after everything that’s happened recently.”“That would be nice,” Clay nodded.

(To people who haven't read my other stories, I typically have the same family dynamic for George in each story. Just him as an only child and his two parents. But for this story his parents are going to be different, and he is going to have a sister).
