GIVE ME LOVE (WINRINA AU)

CHAPTER 1

A girl sits alone at a bus stop near her apartment. She takes out a pack of cigarettes and starts smoking to warm herself. She put one hand on her jacket's pocket as she looks around her neighbourhood.

On her third cigarette, the sun starts to set. She huffs out the last puff of smoke and put it out by stepping on it.

"Winter..." a woman approached her. "can you help me prepare dinner for you father?"

Winter stands up and walks inside the apartment building.

A bus stops in front of the apartment. A girl with a big suitcase and a bag walks out of the bus.

"yeah, I'm already here. It's not too bad. You said it's not too old right?" she said to her friend on the phone. "I think I'll be good here. See you at work."

She walks into the building, struggling to walk up the stairs. She will live on the fourth floor, which is sucks for her to carry all that.

Once she gets to her floor, she noticed a girl coming down from the upper floor. It's Winter.

"hi. Nice to meet you. I'm new here. I hope we can get to know each other." The new girl greeted.

Winter just looks at her and carries her big trash bag down the stairs until the girl can't see her anymore.

"well, at least there's someone young here."

Winter sits at the small dining table, having her dinner with her mother.

"eat this. your father doesn't like it." the mother placed the dish on winters plate.

Winter continues to eat silently.

"how's your work? Are you still editing for those YouTube people?" the woman asked.

"yes." she replied shortly.

"did you get the scholarship?"

"yes."

"you should tell your father. He must be happy to hear that." the mother smiles.

"okay."

Winter walks towards the living area where her father is. she obeys her mother, telling her father about the scholarship.

"I got the scholarship." Winter stated.

"you gotta pay your own tuition. I have to pay for your sister's." the man didn't even look at his second daughter. "go to your room."

Winter goes past the kitchen to go back to her room. she then hears her mother called.

"Winter... did you know that there's a new resident below us? I met her this morning when I was about to go to the market." She smiles as she told the story. "I want you to give her this food for her tomorrow. Her name is Karina."

"okay."

Winter immediately wakes up when someone bangs on her door.

"wake up, lazy kid!" her father raised her voice. "this is why you haven't got to college like your sister. What time is it? you're still sleeping? wake up and help your mother. buy me two packs." He throws the money on her desk.

Winter yawns before getting out of her bed and to the bathroom. Once she's cleaned up a bit, she grabs her coat and goes outside the room.

"Winter!" the mother called. "here's the food for our new resident."

The girl grabs the packed food and walks out of the apartment unit. She does remember where Karina lives so she goes there in short time. she knocks a few times before Karina opens up the door. Looks like she's ready to go to work.

"hi!" Karina greeted with a smile.

"my mom told me to give you this." Winter shoves the bag towards her. "have a good day."

"wait. What's your name?" Karina stops her from walking away.

"Winter." she said without looking back and continues walking away.

Winter is still glued to her table and computer. She glances at the small digital clock, finding that it's already three in the morning. She let out a long sigh as she stretches her body. Walking towards her bed, she decided to try to sleep.

It doesn't take long before her sleep got interrupted by her father calling her. she looks at the clock and it's already 6AM.

She walks out of her room, immediately greeted by her mother on the dining table. Her father is still watching TV.

"here's the list of groceries. You can go by yourself, right?" the woman gave her a piece of paper.

"yes."

"you got the money? Use that first. Your sister needs mine more." The father chimed in.

Winter goes straight outside, walking slowly downstairs. On the fourth floor, she noticed Karina struggling to bring some boxes to her unit. Winter has to wait for some moments before the way is clear from the boxes.

"I'm really sorry." Karina bowed a little.

Just like the other day, Winter walks past her just like that. Karina sighs. She thought she can get to know her. most of the residents here are already in their thirties and busy working as well. Karina finishes up taking care of her boxes and starts to unpack them. Since it's weekend, she has a lot of time to customize her unit to her liking.

"hey Yeji." Karina called her friend to give her a company. "yes, there is. she's not much of a talker though. I was thinking that I should give them something." Karina put the call on speaker. "I wanna be a good neighbour, you know? her mother seems nice."

"you can cook for them. Give them food or something."

"will do. I need to take care of my apartment first."
