CHAPTER 19

Winter's mother knocks on the girl's door. It's been a week since she locked herself in her room. the mother have been trying to get to her not once Winter responded to her.

"Winter... please open up."

On the other hand, Winter is still hurt by what happened a week ago. The only time she went out is to work and that's it. she ignored her parents as well. Thankfully, Yeji has always been there for her.

"open the door, Winter. I know she's wrong for not protecting you but she's still your mother. you will never know what's on her mind." Yeji said through the call.

"I don't need to go out." Winter replied.

"don't you miss her? she must've missed you. at least, answer her." Yeji sighs. "we haven't seen each other as well."

"I can go there."

"I won't let you in if you're still ignoring your mom."

Winter looks down. She thinks about it for a few minutes.

"Winter... here's your food."

Winter stands up and get to the door. When she opens it, her mother has a tray of food on her hands.

"thanks."

"can we talk a little?" the mother looks at her in the eye.

"sure." Winter then lets her in.

"did you buy a new laptop?" the mother noticed the new device on her desk.

"I saved some money for it." Winter walks over to her desk, taking her phone and sit on the chair while her mother sits on the bed.

"good for you. I'm happy that you can live on your own... without me." the mother chuckles sadly.

"what are you talking about? I still need you." Winter sighs. "you keep refusing my money as well. I have to spoil myself too."

"I get it. I'm sorry."

"stop saying sorry for something you can't change." Winter looks away. "I've been on your side for all my life, but it seems like you're keeping here just to work for you... and him, of course. do you have any idea of how many times he forced me to give him money?" she paused. "every time he abused me you just stand there, doing nothing. I am hurting, mom. He should be the one providing for us. not that I refuse to help but it seems like I'm the one providing for you and him. I wanna have fun too."

Seeing her daughter finally poured her heart out breaks the mother's heart.

"you know... Wendy... she..."

"I don't wanna know." Winter stopped her mother. "I get it now. how much does he want?"

"no, listen." The mother let out a long breath. "She has a lot of dept. that's why... he's working so hard to help her."

Winter's heart softened for a bit. He's still her father after all.

"that's not a reason to beat me up almost every night. He abused you as well. I hate him." Winter looks down. "fine, then. I'll help you." she looks at her.

Seeing that the mother didn't say anything, Winter got a little disappointed and thought that she just wants to ask for this, for Winter's help.

"thank you." the mother stands up and gives her a hug. "I will be a better parent, Winter. I promise."

Winter arrived at Yeji's unit. She decided to spend the night there. Now that she has her laptop, she can work anywhere possible.

"I should've bought this sooner." Winter stifles a laugh. "I thought I don't have the money for it."

"but it should be different from working on PC. That thing looks old as well." Yeji commented, lying on her bed, while Winter uses her desk.

"it is old. I begged my dad to keep it. that's why I tried to maintain it and upgrade it little by little." Winter replied, not looking back.

"you can stay here as long as you like. We can be roommates as well." Yeji walks towards her, hugging her from behind.

"I just need some time away from home. Maybe someday we can have our own apartment." Winter smiles, leaning back towards Yeji.

"what about here? Mine is good enough." Yeji pouts, tilting her head facing Winter.

"no. we'll own one. You rent this unit, right? you have contract." Winter faces her.

"hm..." Yeji leans closer.

Winter is not that stupid to realize. She looks back to her laptop, making Yeji failed to plant a kiss on her lips. Instead, it landed on her cheek.

"did you just reject me?" Yeji pulled away.

"no, no. it's not like that." Winter looks at her. "I mean... do we have to?"

"no." Yeji walks back to her bed.

Winter can hear her stomps, indicating that she's sulky about it. she then walks towards the bed and sits down.

"I'm worried that I can't satisfy you." Winter said honestly. "I have no experience."

"is that what you're worried about?" Yeji looks up from her phone, looking at Winter. "it's just a kiss, babe." She scoots over to her, hugging her from the back.

"I'm sorry. I'm nervous." Winter looks down. she then hear Yeji let out a small laugh.

"you're cute." Yeji pecks her shoulder. "give it a try. Maybe I can teach you."

Winter turns around halfway, enough for Yeji to reach for her face. With that, Yeji leans in first, catching Winter's bottom lip in between her lips gently. Winter closes her eyes, following her gut to move along the kiss. it's a bit sloppy for Yeji but she managed to get her back on track, on her pace.

"hey, what's that?" Yeji pulled away after noticing that Winter tried to use her tongue. "less tongue, okay?"

"okay."

As they start to get used to each other's style, Winter starts to feel good as well. She gets more confident and begins to push Yeji little by little to lay on the bed.

"someone's getting excited." Yeji giggles, caressing Winter's plump cheek. "do you wanna do it?"

"I have morning class." Winter moves to lay on the side.

"so, you think we'll do it the whole night?" Yeji chuckles at Winter's innocence.

"we won't?" Winter asked innocently.

"of course, not." Yeji smiles. "unless we have the energy for it." she poked Winter's nose. "well, then. you have to rest. I'll wake you up tomorrow."
