Wendy and Winter decided to check the apartment after a few days staying at the hospital. When they walk into the lobby, the landlord stops them.

"kids!" he approached. "you have a week to clean your place. you dad sold it." he informed.

"that fast?" Wendy raised an eyebrow.

"I gotta keep this place going as well, kiddo. Here's the key. Give it back to me when you're done."

With that, Wendy, and Winter walks upstairs to their unit. Today, they decided to clean up all their stuff as best as they can.

"where are we gonna move?" Wendy sighs. "were not gonna dump all these boxes on the street."

"we still have a week. If we can find like a cheap place to live, that'll be enough, right?" Winter asked as she placed a smaller box on top of a bigger one.

"and where is that? c'mon, it's impossible."

"can you be positive for once? I'm looking for a solution as well." Winter huffed. she then walks towards her bedroom.

Winter searches every place, taking out all the things she needs including her computer. After she felt like it's all done, she goes for another sweep at the room. she opens up each and every drawer, making sure that nothing is left. Then, she found a piece of paper that her mother gave her. she quickly put it in her pocket and gets out of the room, along with some boxes and a suitcase.

"is that all?" Wendy made sure.

"yeah." Winter sits on the couch.

"we don't have much stuff, huh?" Wendy joins her. "how are we gonna tell her, now? she knows that he left."

"do you wanna look around the district?" Winter asked.

"sure."

"how about your... other job?"

"it's all going well. Don't worry about it." Wendy pressed a smile. "I'm already saving."

"it's good, I guess." Winter looks down. "did you found the money?"

"yeah." Wendy walks over to her duffle bag and takes out a rusty cookie can. "kinda sad to look at it. better to work for more than this."

Winter takes the can and opens it. it's still a lot of money but it surely doesn't cover the hospital bill.

"we can save this for something else." Winter sighs.

"let's go back." Wendy stands up, ready to go back to the hospital.

Just then, they hear knocking on the door. They think it's the landlord. Winter walks to the door and when she opens it, she found Karina standing there with a smile. Winter goes straight to give her a hug, finding comfort in her embrace.

"I'm tired." Winter melts into Karina's hold. "I'm sorry I haven't been contacting you."

"it's totally okay, love. I've been busy as well. I should be here with you. I should be the one saying sorry." Karina pulled away, cupping Winter's cheeks. "I heard you from downstairs. Are you guys packing up?"

"yes. we have a week to find a place."

"stay at my unit. You're not gonna put those boxes scattered on the corridor, right?" Karina let out a small laugh. "I'll help you with those."

-

Winter and Wendy decided to take turns in staying with the mother. tonight, Wendy is the one going, while Winter can stay at Karina's unit to have some time for her work and assignments.

"what are you looking for?" Karina noticed Winter's laptop.

"a place to live." Winter's eyes are busy scanning the screen. "we won't be living here for too long."

"why don't you just focus on your job first? You can't pay rent while saving for the hospital bill." Karina sits beside her.

"we'll find a way."

"what about your tuition?" Karina asked again. "I allowed you to stay here along with Wendy. I want you to put your mother first. Stay here as long as you need to."

Winter sighs then rests her head on Karina's shoulder. She's still thinking about how to get a lot of money. She then grabs her phone and calls her sister.

"hello? What's up?" Wendy answered.

"how much does your job make?" Winter asked.

"oh, no, no, no... I know what you're thinking."

"c'mon... I just wanna know." Winter looks at Karina.

"no, Winter. this time, I don't need you."

"please. we can get double."

"that's not how it works. They won't do that."

"will you tell me what kind of work are you doing?" Winter persuade her. "let me show you what I can do, please." she paused. "for mom."

"I won't let you fall into this forsaken world, okay? just let me do it."

Winter then hangs up the call as her plan failed. She bounces her legs rapidly.

"Winter.... go back to work. You don't need to think about anything beside saving for your study and the hospital bill. I'll take care of you." Karina holds her hand and the other tilts Winter's head before giving her a gentle kiss.

"I'll be a burden to you. I don't want that."

"you're not a burden. I wanna help you too." Karina said, tidying up Winter's hair. "I want you to keep fighting, okay? one day, your hard work will pay off."
