GIVE ME LOVE (WINRINA AU)

CHAPTER 40

Winter sits beside her phone. She made a new habit of being woken up by Karina's call. She's too used to it, she woke up before Karina called.

"good morning." Winter greeted after picking up her call.

"I know you're awake. I just wanna hear your voice."

"before seeing me downstairs?" Winter chuckles.

"exactly."

Wendy walks into the room, drying her hair with a towel. She smirks and quickly grabs Winter's phone. She then put it on mute.

"you ask her out today. No buts." Wendy said as she hides her phone behind her. "the month is changing. You're taking too long."

"give it back." Winter said sternly.

"you're a coward." Wendy scoffed mocking her sister. "move on, sis."

Wendy gave back her phone and goes to mind her own business.

"hello? Are you still there?"

"yes, I'm here. Sorry. It's Wendy." Winter threw a side eye at her. "do you have time today?"

"I do. You'll come to my unit, right?"

"yeah. I'm just making sure."

Winter is getting nervous. She doesn't know how to properly propose to Karina. the feelings are different than her past confessions.

"can I borrow your laptop?" Winter asked Karina.

"sure. What for?" Karina grabs her laptop and gives it to Winter.

"I need a program to run my assignment."

Karina looks at Winter suspiciously. Even though she's curious about it, she decided not to peek.

Ten minutes or so has passed. Karina watches Winter's eyebrows furrowed from how focused she is.

"alright. It's working." Winter smiles warmly at her. "thanks."

"great!" Karina sits beside her. "what kind of program are you working on?"

"it's um... it's a program that provides some codes for programmers or hackers or just people who wants to learn programming. I don't know how to explain it to you but that's about it." Winter explained.

"I'm sure it'll be so cool and helpful. Your professor will be satisfied." Karina smiles at her, cheering her up.

"yeah. I hope he will."

Winter walks into her mother's bedroom. She noticed the medicines on her side table aren't getting less. The mother is currently sitting down, drinking some different pills on her hand. Meanwhile, her father is sound asleep on the other side of the bed.

"how are you feeling?" Winter sits beside her, leaning on her shoulder.

"it's nice to have you here every night." The mother sigh in relief. "how's Karina?"

"she's great." Winter replied as she tucks her mother's strand of hair behind her ear. "I miss your food."

"Karina is a good cook. I can teach her as well." The mother responded.

"yeah, she is. but still, it's different from yours." Winter whines.

"you have to learn to live without me." The mother rubs Winter's thigh lovingly.

"you will live long, okay? I want you to be there when I graduate, on my wedding, or even when I'm awake. I'm not ready."

"you have to, dear. I'm sure you will have someone that will care for you more than I do. I haven't been the best parent for you, I know." The mother caressed Winter's head. She then takes a glance at the sleeping man before opening her drawer. "when I'm gone, I want you to call this person. I won't deny the fact that your father hasn't been there for you when you're a little girl. This man would."

"I don't need this. I want you to stay with me, mom."

"shush. You will wake him up." The mother only smiles at her. "go to sleep, now, dear."

Karina is still awake, checking on her files to make sure everything is perfect. She'll have a meeting tomorrow. Then, she found an odd folder named "open when you found it"

Karina double clicked on the folder, then a box popped up.

"you have a secret message"

She clicked the on the 'continue' button.

"it's from someone upstairs"

She clicked on it again. Knowing that it's from Winter, she smiles.

"I was programmed to give you a choice. Do you want to continue?"

-yes- -no-

Karina clicked on the 'yes'. She's getting impatient actually.

"... continue to the next step of our relationship?"

-no-

Karina is confused. Regardless, Karina sadly clicked on the 'no' button.

"system error. Do you want to restart the program?"

-yes-

By now, Karina is impressed by how Winter can make things fun with her skills. She clicks the button then the screen went black. Soon after, it's on again. But, this time, a video pops up. There are two boys, introducing themselves as Kai and Yeonjun.

"hey, Karina! Winter told us to make a video to let you know that she has a HUGE crush on you. She's too scared to confess so she asked both of us to do it. She's a coward, huh?" Yeonjun laughs. Then Kai slaps him lightly. "anyway, Winter will come to you in the morning, waiting for your answer. The question is..."

The video froze. Karina gets frustrated, but in a good way. She noticed that the seeking bar is still going. Not long after that, she's surprised by a sudden clip from one of her favorite movies. The male main character is standing in front of the girl's house at night, holding an 'I LOVE YOU' sign.

"I! LOVE! YOU! I WILL ASK YOU AGAIN, GEORGIA! WILL YOU BE MY GIRLFRIEND?!" the man aggressively persuade the girl. "I WILL WAIT HERE UNTIL THE SUNRISE AND YOU WILL GIVE ME THE ANSWER WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!"

Karina laughs at it, getting a little teary. It's an aggressive proposal but it's still romantic. When the video ends, she decided to give the answer tomorrow morning, exactly like how the female main character did in the movie.
