CHAPTER 38

Winter has been thinking about that day where she almost kissed Karina. she can't even focus on her lesson today.

"Winter? Maybe you know the answer of this problem. Help your friend." The professor called.

"sorry, sir. My answer won't be accurate. I'm not sure." Winter replied.

"you should pay more attention to what I'm saying. So, as I said..."

As the professor continues the lesson, Winter leans back on her chair. Her ears are listening to him but her head is blocked by the thought still.

"why didn't you wake me up?" Wendy sits up from the bed.

"I thought you have the evening shift." Winter responded.

"I'm just playing with you." Wendy chuckles. "you sound unwell. You good?"

"I don't know. Did you ruin something or saving me from something?"

"stop with that philosophical questions. I don't even know what you're talking about." Wendy walks towards her suitcase, grabbing some clothes. "oh! You're talking about that day at the bus stop?" she hurriedly leans on Winter's chair.

"yeah." Winter sighs.

"that's a question you should answer yourself. But, I think I ruined it." Wendy taps her shoulder a few times. "just focus on your classes, sis. Girls will come to you."

Winter is hanging out again at the bus stop after walking Wendy to the bus. She looks around the street, enjoying her smoke. Then, from the distance, she noticed Karina walking towards her. Winter immediately looks away, feeling embarrassed for some reason.

"hey, Winter." Karina greeted shortly then walks inside without looking back.

Karina walks upstairs as she thinks about Winter's behaviour. Looks like Winter is hiding herself from her.

"Karina?"

Karina stops her track when she's about to reach the second floor. She looks down the stairs and see Winter standing there. She immediately turns around and runs upstairs. She can hear Winter's fast pace of chasing her.

"wait." Winter caught her. "are you in a hurry?"

"n-no." Karina sighs turning around to face her but looks down.

"are you okay now?"

Karina just nods at her. Winter encourage herself, taking the girl's hand.

"do you have time?" Winter steps closer, trying to look at Karina's face.

Karina grabs her hand and take her to her unit. Once they're in, Karina places the plastic bag that she has on the coffee table. Winter sits down first while Karina is buying some time to think.

Winter watches her taking off her cardigan, walks into her bedroom, get out, then to the bathroom. Winter waits patiently, though.

"sorry." Karina finally sits beside her.

"it's okay." Winter smiles a little. "are those medicines?"

"it's vitamins." Karina awkwardly grabs the bag and put it back on the table.

"oh." Winter nods understandingly. "don't make things awkward between us."

"I'm not." Karina looks at her. "it's just embarrassing. You must think I'm weird."

"it's embarrassing for me too." Winter sighs.

"I thought you're with Chaehyun, so I feel guilty about it."

"we're not together anymore." Winter looks down. "but I moved on. I guess."

Well, there's another problem, Karina thought.

"so what do you want?" Karina asked.

"I just need a friend. If that's okay with you."

"sure. Let's pretend that day never happened." Karina smiles at her.

"I can't just do that." Winter furrowed her eyebrows

"what if you just use me as a rebound?"

"let me figure it out." Winter takes her hand. "I can't lie to myself either." She caressed her hand softly. "what if I want to be with you instead?"

"that fast?"

"is it too fast?" Winter raised an eyebrow.

"maybe." Karina looks down. "it's about what you feel." She looks at her again. "I admit that I have a crush on you."

"since when?"

"I don't know. It just came."

"and you just keep it?" Winter wondered.

"what do you expect? You're with someone. I can't just confess to you. Besides, I don't even know what I'm feeling that time."

"oh." Winter paused to think. "what about now?"

"I still like you." Karina replies shortly.

"then... do you wanna go out?"
