CHAPTER 37

Now that Winter is free from her work at the store, she can be more focused on her YouTube editing job. Other than that, she can't forget about her study. So today, it's her time to present her new project with her group.

"I'll present it." Winter turned on her mic. "so this time we made a game." She started.

Her presentation goes well despite being distracted by Chaehyun who's smiling at her through the screen. She can't get her feelings in the way.

"that's good, miss Kim. I'd download it if I were a little bored boy. That's a compliment by the way." He paused. "keep up the good work with your team."

Winter smiles at the professor. She then turns off the camera.

"that's an odd compliment." Wendy commented as she tidies up herself, preparing to go to work.

"I think so too." Winter stifles a laugh.

"so you won't be working at the store?"

"how many times do I have to tell you?" Winter looks at her.

"I'm just making sure. no one is scolding me now." Wendy walks towards her. "but, hey. Look at this. I have abs. thanks to those boxes." She chuckles.

"didn't think you'd get that easily."

Wendy playfully lifts up Winter's shirt to show her abs.

"hey!" Winter quickly covers it up.

"you didn't go to a gym but you have that?" Wendy is impressed. "so, you have the gene for it. should've saved some for me."

"oh, shut up." Winter turns back at the monitor.

"alright. Take care, sis." Wendy ruffles Winter's hair as she walks out the room.

Winter walks down to the apartment with a cup of warm milk on her hand. She walks towards the bus stop and found Karina taking a picture of the golden sky.

"hey, Winter." Karina greeted. "you drink coffee at this hour?"

"it's milk." Winter sits down, taking a cigarette from her pocket. "shouldn't you be at work still?"

"wanna hear a news?" Karina excitedly sits beside Winter. "I got promoted!"

"wow. Congrats." Winter smiles a little.

"that means I can get a higher pay but with less hours of work. Which is great, but I kinda miss being a worker. It's less lonely." Karina added. "how are you?"

"starting to get better. My sister is working, and I got a few more clients to work with." Winter then got curious. "are you gonna move from here? You know, because you have better income."

Karina looks away, thinking. that's a good thing to move to a better place. sadly, the girl beside her is making her hard to leave. It's just making her sad to think about not seeing Winter in this bus stop.

"that's actually a good idea. I haven't got the chance to look, though." Karina stifles a laugh. "um... how about your mom?"

"she's doing okay. aside from getting old." Winter looks down. "she's always in her room after cooking and cleaning a little. dad is still the same. Work, go home, eat and sleep."

"what about your sister?"

"she's working at the store I worked at." Winter takes a sip of her milk.

"worked? You don't work there anymore?"

"no. I'm focusing myself on YouTube editing." Winter smiles a little. "I wanna enjoy life. Doing what I love."

"I'm happy for you." Karina smiles back. "I have big dream. I don't think I can really enjoy life." She stifles a laugh.

"why not?" Winter wonders.

"I have no one. I live on my own. Which means I have no one to run to, no company, even Yeji won't be there for me all the time, right? I don't have someone to share that happiness when I have a proper wealth."

"strangers counts, right? do something for people." Winter suggested.

"you made a point." Karina purses her lips. "I guess I need to work harder."

"yeah, I can say the same." Winter looks up to the darkened sky. "why did you take pictures of the sky?" she asked as she lit up one more cig.

"I like the colors. I think it's pretty so I took it." Karina simply replied. "speaking of, what do you like?"

"programming, editing, fixing stuff, you know, like engineering." Winter paused, taking her time to think while Karina waits patiently. "I have some lists of gadgets that I wanna buy as well. I think some software that I need would be great if I have it." she paused again. "um... actually, I like working with people who has the same interests as me. on the other hand, I like to work alone." She looks at Karina.

"that's pretty detailed. You have a lot on your brain." Karina giggles. She found that deep thoughts of Winter really fascinating.

"I guess so. I have a lot on my plate as well." Winter hides her sadness with a stifle of laugh. "what about you?"

"you won't be surprised. I think you can guess it." Karina looks at her while Winter is still waiting for her answer. "okay. I like winter time. you know that. I like something cute. If it's cute, I like it. I like coffee and food. I can pretty much eat anything." she paused. "that's all. it's not that interesting." She stifles a laugh.

"why do you think like that? it's interesting to know those things." Winter reassured her. "besides... it's been a while since I have someone to talk about things like this. some people think it's useless, but I think it's a way for you to get to know people."

"I always get confused by the way you think. but, it's kind of... intriguing."

The two got caught in a staring contest, looking at each other as if drawn to one another. Curiosity starts to grow inside their mind as they got closer and closer to each other.

Winter's eyes falls down to her lips, never know how it pulls her in. Karina too, wants to get a taste of Winter's, moving forward slowly as she prepares herself. Karina gulps when their lips are almost touching.

"guys!"

The two take some distance after hearing the voice. Winter looks up and see Wendy with a smug smile.

"get a room, please." Wendy laughs at them. "didn't know you can get a girlfriend."

"can you stop talking?" Winter glares at her.

"yeah, whatever. C'mon, I wanna eat." Wendy chuckles as she walks into the building.

"sorry for that." Winter grabs her cup of milk that have gone cold. She looks at Karina, hearing nothing from her. "are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Karina hides her flushed face. She can hear Winter stifling a laugh. "please tell me it doesn't mean anything." she looks at her.

"I'll see you around, Karina."
