GIVE ME LOVE (WINRINA AU)

CHAPTER 5

Winter grabs her toolbox from the storage under the sink. As she promised Karina, she goes to her unit to give her a little help.

Winter knocks on the door, waits for some minutes before Karina opens the door.

"Hey, come in." Karina opens the door wider, letting her in. "It's a mess. I'm sorry."

"it's okay." Winter scans the room. it's warm in here. Not the actual temperature, but the atmosphere.

"my sink in the kitchen is not that bad. But the ones on the bathroom is dripping. The drainage is clogged as well. I've cleaned them all the time." Karina leads her to the kitchen first.

Winter opens up the cabinet, revealing the dripping pipe. She takes out a flashlight to better see the problem.

Karina can only watch her getting busy in silence. She's kind of amazed that a girl like her can do this 'manly' task. Maybe that's just her sexist way of thinking.

"you need a new pipe. I can only reduce the drips. It won't last long." Winter stands up.

"can you check my bathroom as well?"

Winter replied with a hum. Karina leads her towards the bathroom. Winter immediately checks the sink like the previous one. Using some tools that Karina doesn't know how to use, Winter skillfully fixes some loose pipes and checks for any minor damages.

"how did you learn to do this?" Karina breaks the silence.

"I just have to." Winter moves around, still focusing on her work.

"your dad can help you, right?" Karina asked again.

"he's busy." Winter wipes her sweaty forehead. "what else?"

"the drain?"

Winter walks over to the other part of the room. with her barehand, she lifts up the lid and flashes the light inside the drain.

"pour some hot water over it." Winter stands up again. "at least that's what I usually do."

"oh... okay."

The two then got distracted by a flickering light. Winter looks up, then back at Karina.

"change the bulb." Winter walks outside the bathroom.

"I've changed them when I get here. There's no way it's already dead."

"do you know where the terminal box is?" Winter asked.

"what's terminal box?"

Winter sighs. She walks outside the unit, opening door partially. Turns out, the terminal box is right beside the door. Winter goes in to take her stuff and gets back out again.

"careful." Karina warned, afraid that Winter might get electrocuted.

Fortunately, Winter is doing fine fixing the cables.

"some cables weren't connected properly. It's all good now."

"thank you so much." Karina grabs her hand. "come in again. I'll make you some drink."

"I'm just gonna go." Winter said as she packs all her tools.

"please, it's okay. I don't know how to thank you." Karina insisted.

"you don't need to."

Karina invited her friend to her apartment. There's no strict rules on this building, just everyone needs to report if they bring any visitors.

"hey, sorry. I tried to make it as fast as I can."

"it's okay, Yeji." Karina smiles to her friend. "come in."

"wow... you're still the same. How long did you managed to turn this place into a... nice home?" Yeji sits on the couch, looking around the room.

"I started the second day." Karina shrugs.

"it's very nice." Yeji smiles at her.

While Karina is making Yeji a drink, Yeji heard the bell rings.

"I'll get the door!" Yeji informed her. she then goes to answer the door.

Upon opening the door, Yeji sees a girl with a paper bag. Looks like it's filled with some lunchboxes.

"this is for Karina."

"do you live here as well?" Yeji smiles. "come in."

"who is it?" Karina peeks outside, walking towards the two. "oh, Winter. come in. I have something for you."

She walks in, following Karina.

"what floor are you on?" Yeji sits on the couch again.

"five." Winter replied shortly.

Then, Karina comes back with a box of cupcakes.

"you can share these with your family." Karina smiles at her. "thank you for this morning."

"no problem." Winter accepted the box.

"you can come here anytime. Don't be shy." Yeji offered kindly.

"okay." Winter then walks away.

"wait..." Yeji called again. "can I have your number?"

"what for?" Winter raised an eyebrow.

"I don't know.. maybe I can call you if Karina isn't available." Yeji shrugs.

Winter feels something is odd. There's no need for her to give her the numbers.

"you don't need to. I'm sorry." Karina smiles awkwardly.

"okay."

After Winter left, Karina and Yeji hangs out at the living area.

"what were you doing?" Karina sighs. "how can you ask for her number like that?"

"I gotta take a shot. She's attractive. how can I let her slide?"

"but still. She's not like that." Karina responded. "do you really think she's attractive?"

"well, yeah." Yeji shrugs. "do you think I can pull her off?"

"try it if you can."
